Accounts Assistant Apprentice

We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic **Accounts Assistant Apprentice** to join our growing Accounts & Finance team on a permanent, full-time basis (39.5 hours per week). This is a new role based in our York Head Office at Northminster Business Park, Upper Poppleton where free parking available on site.

**ROLE RESPONSIBILITY**:
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a close-knit team whilst proactively learning on the job, reporting directly into the Treasury Accountant. The apprenticeship will run for a duration of 2 years studying towards the AAT qualification, by which time you will be ready to progress to an Accounts Assistant role with the responsibility of helping the business to maximise its sales potential by adhering to the business’ critical path and assisting with every aspect of the finance function within the business. As an employer we are always keen to promote from within where possible.

You will act as a key point of contact for Suppliers, Stores and Cross Functional Teams within Head Office, ensuring that all aspects involved within the finance function are managed efficiently and effectively.

**Key Responsibilities of our Accounts Assistant Apprentice**:

- Processing and reporting on Sales Ledger assisting with the Cash Management from stores.
- Liaising with stores and problem solving all finance related queries.
- Maintaining and managing purchase orders through our Sage 200 accounting system.
- Calculating and submitting of monthly, quarterly and annual turnover information.
- Processing cash book, purchase ledger, sales ledger and nominal ledger entries on Sage 200.
- Managing multiple mailboxes relating to a variety of areas within the finance function.
- Bank Reconciliations

**Ideal requirements to be our Accounts Assistant Apprentice**:

- Have a positive, can-do attitude with a passion for learning new skills
- Commitment to completing an Apprenticeship
- Be highly organised with strong attention to detail
- The ability to manage time effectively by prioritising and re-prioritising as needed
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communicator who can take a friendly and engaging approach in multiple situations
- Some experience using Microsoft programmes, mainly excel, word and outlook.
- Willing to work in a proactive work environment, independently or as part of a team
- English and Maths at a minimum grade C/4 or equivalent
