A SQL Server SME is sought after by a leading Hedge Fund based in Central London to join their Core Database Engineering Team IT on a permanent basis. This is a small, specialised team who maintain ultimate ownership of their database estate globally, which is a hybrid stack (Oracle, SQL Server, Mongo DB etc.) and at a scale of 100’s of terabytes.
Your day-to-day will revolve around working directly with stakeholders and business users (from trading desk to back office) and the wider technology group, undertaking a mixture of BAU and ad-hoc project work. This will range from things like performance and query optimisations, maintenance, standard upgrades through to fully fledged re-platforming pieces which you will be encouraged to own and drive, suggesting and implementing best-in-class solutions as you see fit.
To be successful, you will meet the following requirements:

- Expert level knowledge and experience of MS SQL Server, currently working on Version 2016+ and confident with general database maintenance and optimisations (performance, tuning, storage etc.)
- Strong skills using SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services) and SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services)
- An appreciation of both Windows and Unix/Linux platforms, with good PowerShell scripting skills
- Any experience of Oracle, Vertica, Mongo DB would be a plus
- Whilst preferred, a background in the Financial Services industry is not critical.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong SQL Server DBA to join a high performing Database team within a leading Hedge Fund.
Please note due to organisation policy, you will be required in office 4 days per week.
