Behaviour Mentor - Newport

Work 1:1 with a pupil during lessons to encourage learning and reduce challenging behaviour in a KS2 primary pupil referral unit. Develop your teaching assistant experience in this behaviour support role.

The school provides support for students from alternative backgrounds who have been removed from mainstream education due to both behavioural or social, emotional, and mental health issues. Students have a variety of additional needs that impact their behaviouror confidence in a mainstream setting including complex SEMH and ADHD. The goal of the school is to retransition students back into mainstream education and reengage them into learning.

Learners are aged between 6-11 and provides a combination of the mainstream and alternative curriculum to best support students. The role of the behaviour mentor is to ensure students are engaged with the lessons and provided with 1:1 support to maintainfocus and reduce challenging behaviour.
- £10.20 per hour pay.
- Full time Monday - Friday position
- Hours: 8.30am - 3.30pm

Behaviour Mentors must:

- Have experience of supporting pupils with challenging behaviours
- Emotionally resilient
- Able to support and facilitate academic, social, and personal development by effectively managing challenging behaviour
- Able to support a pupil through a personalised timetable
- Able to de-escalate possible conflict and challenging situations
- Is committed to developing the full potential of all children
- Has high expectations of pupil attainment, progress, and behaviour
- Works well as part of a team and has good interpersonal skills
- Is a good role model to pupils.

To be considered for the position the behaviour mentor must hold an enhanced child DBS certificate that is registered with the update service, register with the education workforce council, have 2 relevant references, and hold a level 2 safeguarding qualification(Free through Teaching Personnel).
