Senior Residential Support Worker

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated Senior Residential Support worker in a children & young people's residential setting within Gateshead. This home is for children and young people with complex Learning Disabilities who can display challenging behaviours.

Artemis Support is a local children’s home provider with an established reputation of over 10 years providing excellent care to children and young people across the Tyne & Wear location.

**The Role**:
As a senior member of staff, you will be able to lead, inspire, manage, guide, and support members of staff at the home and ensure a positive environment for the children and young people.
- Develop participation with young people in a meaningful way that promotes inclusion within the running of the home.
- Promoting the health and well-being of young people
- Shift lead and take responsibility for handover as well as aspects of coordination of young people and staff and arranging the daily activities.
- Develop and monitor performance around care planning, outcomes, and recording.
- Ensure that health and safety documentation is completed weekly.
- Allocation of Key Workers for each young person with the principal responsibility of implementing the childcare plan.
- Coordinate and facilitate staff team meetings.
- Mentor new staff in terms of their roles.
- Working in partnership with parents, carers, and other professionals to safeguard and promote the welfare of young people.

You will support them in learning everyday skills and enjoy family meals together - or the odd takeout As a Senior Residential Support Worker you will also be involved in planning and delivering activities for young people internal and external to the home. We have arranged many trips from walking the peaks to a fun day in Blackpool

No two days in our homes are the same, and that is what makes it fun, exciting and engaging.

**About You**:

- Level 3 in Residential Childcare (ongoing or completed)
- Minimum 1 years experience within a children/young person residential setting or similar
- Experience working with complex Learning Disabilities
- Excellent communication skills.
- Hold full Driving Licence is desirable
- Adaptable, approachable, and friendly manner.
- Ability to work using own initiative and as part of a team.
- DBS on the Update Service is desirable but not essential.
- Be able to work across shifts including long days and sleepovers.
