An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team in Somerset as a Driver/Operational Assistant in our Yeovil Treatment Centre.

This role would be working to cover a mixture of evening and weekends at the Shepton Mallet Treatment Centre. There will be opportunities to pick up extra sessions at appropriate shift / role pay rates to cover for annual leave and sickness. A rota pattern is available for viewing upon request.

The non-clinical role requires you to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team speaking to patients, carers and healthcare professionals who require urgent healthcare advice and support during the out of hours period.

**The role involves**:

- Administration / receptionist-type duties, such as booking patients in on the computer system
- Liaising with our Clinical Assessment Centre, Doctors and Nurses to ensure the smooth running of the service
- Driving company vehicles to transport GPs and equipment to patients' homes
- Checking drugs stock
- Other similar duties.

You are required to have excellent logístical and organisational skills in order to ensure the co-ordination of workload within the Locality.

Key Responsibility Areas

General for all OA and Driver roles
- Set-up TC in preparation for commencement of operations, including switching on and checking all computers and communications equipment.
- To liaise and communicate closely with the Clinical Assessment Service (CAS) / Control Centre (CC) at all times including at the commencement and completion of duty.
- To manage and share workload and responsibilities with clinicians and non-clinicians making best use of skills and expertise available.
- To act as a Company ambassador when working with members of the public promoting the image of the organisation.
- On commencement of shift and at the end of shift (if appropriate) report to the Team / Shift Manager who is responsible for day-to-day operations during the out-of-hours period.
- Acknowledge call details on the computer system as soon as they arrive.
- Assist and work with each other to ensure that quality and performance is maintained in line with national and local guidelines; ensuring performance standards are adhered to at all times within operational practicalities, including informing the Team / Shift Manager of requirements for additional assistance
- Complete all documentation and maintain administrative systems appropriate to Company needs.
- Input / Update patient call information on to the computer database at each appropriate stage of the call until completion.
- Communicate with the CAS / CC if any clinicians or staff members fail to arrive / delayed for their tour of duty, within ten minutes of the due time.
- Ensure that prescription protocols are followed in line with Company Procedure
- When handing over to the on-coming Operational Assistant/Driver ensure that a full handover of any outstanding calls is undertaken.
- For patients attending the TC note their arrival time on the IT system
- Ensure TC is kept clean and tidy.
- When leaving the Reception area, ensure all identifiable information is out of sight and secure, ensuring that cupboards are locked and computer screens are ‘locked’/ switched off (as appropriate).
- To check Rota master to ensure all shifts are correct and notify the Rota Team where shifts are being disputed.
- Ensure Team / Shift Manager is informed of any shift over-runs both for yourself and your clinicians.
- Monitor stock levels of stationery and re-order it through agreed processes.
- Monitor stock levels of drugs and consumables and re-order it through agreed processes
- Act as a Chaperone if requested during consultations
- Collate paperwork such as Drivers Log Sheets, petrol receipts & prescription allocation sheets for collection by the Locality / Operational Team Manager.
- Ensure that upon arrival at the TC, patients are informed of approximate waiting times and safety net information is given.
- When leaving the TC unattended ensure premises are secure and all drug cupboards, etc. are locked
- Ensure that upon closure of the operational period premises are left secure and keys are returned / secured.
- In some locations we support the local Minor Injury Units and therefor
