- As a Deputy Head of Campaigns & Marketing, you will manage a team developing and delivering high profile national campaigns aligned to Defra group objectives such as flooding, fishing licences, tree planting, air quality, waste, or animal welfare.- **Job description**:

- Lead and shape the development of proactive national campaigns & marketing strategies across the full marketing mix using owned, earned and bought channels to meet objectives.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with external partners and secure value in kind and/or financial contributions to deliver common objectives and increase campaign impact.
- Translate business objectives into campaign objectives, generate ideas and plans to meet them and be confident in providing communications guidance.
- Identify audiences and interpret data and insight to develop targeted campaign and marketing strategies.
- Ensure campaign plans are driven by insight and have strong methodology and key performance indicators in place to optimize activity, measure success and capture return on investment.
- Oversee the procurement and management of external suppliers and agencies across a range of communications disciplines.
- Oversee and provide guidance and expertise on media buying and paid for advertising.
- Ensure that activity is delivered on time and to budget, and there is demonstration of value for money.
- Provide professional communications advice to Ministers, senior policy and communication colleagues and play a key role in the Government Communications Service (GCS).
- Carry out duty roles and support during incidents.

**Person specification**:

- Proven experience of developing and managing integrated and successful campaigns across the full marketing communication mix to achieve objectives.
- Experienced at forming and maintaining trusted relationships with partners and robust experience of securing value in kind and/or financial contributions.
- Experience of carrying out competitive procurement processes to commission and manage external suppliers and marketing agencies.
- The ability to develop impactful campaign identities and creatives.
- A passion for, and knowledge of, campaign and marketing techniques, industry innovation and best practice.
- Excellent management and leadership skills with the ability to manage virtual and dispersed campaign teams across Defra, cross-government departments, and partners.
- Strong analytical skills, plus excellent written and oral communications skills reflecting the need to explain complex policy areas to non-specialist audiences in a clear and engaging way.
