**JOB SUMMARY**: The post-holder is responsible for the screening of non-urgent CAMHS referrals and dissemination to the appropriate service. The post-holder will assist in setting and maintaining standards of care, whilst supporting effective integration with the multi-disciplinary team and assist with the facilitation of a collaborative approach to patient focussed care. The post-holder may also hold a small case-load delivering short-term therapeutic interventions and support.
**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Co-ordination of non-urgent CAMHS referrals and initial contact with children & young people and parents/care-givers..
- Screening all referrals and dissemination to the appropriate service.
**Specialist/technical requirements**
**1. **Clinical**
1.1.Maintain the therapeutic milieu, taking a proactive approach, and supporting others in the same.
1.2.Planning activity in accordance with the needs of the service
1.3.Taking prompt action on changes in condition, liaising with other members of the clinical (Multi-disciplinary) team when necessary.
1.4.Develop understanding in respect of specific interventions that are appropriate to the clinical area, and take a role in developing practice in relation to this.
1.5.Working directly with parents / care-givers to understand their child’s needs and manage anxiety re. their child’s condition and provide short-term interventions
1.6.Work with other relevant professionals and parents to manage risk, including providing advice and listening to parents concerns.
**2. **Professional and statutory Obligations**
2.1.Ensure personal practice adheres to relevant Codes of Conduct, legislation and policies and procedures. To be aware of the implications of these, particularly those concerning patients’ rights, and take any necessary action in the event of non-compliance.
2.2.Take responsibility for maintaining any professional registration, if applicable, and for personal and professional development in accordance with professional code guidance, attending statutory and mandatory training and other pertinent training as agreed with the CAMHS Clinical Manager through the personal review process.
**3. **Educational**
3.1.Contribute to the learning environment of the clinical area. Promote learning opportunities for all colleagues and encourage enquiry. Contribute to the development of learning packages, assist and participate in the delivery of relevant training sessions. Maintain knowledge through liaison with educational bodies and link workers.
**4. **Quality Assurance**
4.1.Take prompt action upon receiving or being notified of a complaint and ensure that all efforts are made to resolve the complaint informally in accordance with the relevant policy. Ensure that complaints are reported and that patients and carers / relatives are informed of the complaints procedure.
4.2.Maintain a safe and orderly working environment. Identify potential hazards and take appropriate action. Ensure that audit and Health and Safety checks are undertaken and that deficiencies are acted upon promptly. Promote a pride in the clinical environment both amongst the team and the patient group. Liaise with support staff as and when necessary.
4.3.Contribute to the areas of NSCHT’s clinical governance plans and take on specific tasks in relation to these.
**5. **General**
5.1.To maintain a broad understanding of the work of Changes Health & Wellbeing and North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust (NSCHT) as a whole, and actively contribute your ideas for the improvement of service provisions.
5.2.To develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and across partner organisations
