We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Operator on the North Alwyn Asset. The North Alwyn is a major oil and gas field in the United Kingdom sector of the northern North Sea, 160 km west of the Shetland Islands and the Senior Operator plays a key role in ensuring safe and efficient operations on the asset.

**Overall Activities**:

- Ensure work is carried out in compliance with statutory Health and Safety procedures and the Permit to Work system.
- Ensure Oil & Gas production, water re-injection, production quality and quantity targets are achieved whilst ensuring compliance with Company Policies and Operating Procedures/Guidelines and taking into account maintenance and inspection requirements.
- Perform in an emergency response role as defined by the Site Emergency Response Plan.
- Be fully aware of all Operating Instructions/Platform Directives/Standing Instructions.
- Participate in the compilation of TRAs prior to execution of specific task and operations.
- To monitor the plant operation and installation status at all times and react appropriately to alarms and upsets.
- To safely and efficiently restart the production plant and Platform utilities following shutdowns. Safely and efficiently achieve production targets complying with installation procedures and instructions. Duties as outlined in the Offshore Safe System of Work.
- Carry out the role of Area Authority, and Control Room
- As required, undertake periods of work onshore in order to prepare shutdown plans, intervention packs, permits and assist in all associated administration. The times and dates of these periods will be mutually agreed by operations management and the individuals concerned
**Area Authority Activities**:

- Responsible for activities as stated in E-Vision
- Approval of isolation design, control of isolation implementation and ensuring that the isolation is in place prior to allowing an associated WCC to go live. In addition, ensuring that the isolation is properly removed on completion of the WCC.
- Ensure safe electrical and mechanical isolation of wells for interventions by marine support vessels and crew (MSV or drilling rigs).
- Control and authorise particular types of work activities and to issue work permits, routine implementations and entry certificates.
- Ensures all hazards have been identified, conditions applied and precautions put in before work is carried out under a Work Control Certificate, Entry Certificate, and that precautions are removed and the site safely reinstated after the work has been completed
- Ensures worksites are checked prior to the work starting.
- Suspend permitted work activities when operational safety is compromised
- Manage the paper-based back-up system in the unlikely event of a system failure.
- Participate in and ensure completion of relevant work audits e.g. Permit to Work, Safety Audits etc.
- Custodian of the Work Categorization List and advises requestors on work categorization
- Approves Routine templates as required.
- Advise and train other Total contractor personnel on the site to ensure a greater awareness and safer operation of the system.
- Ensure a safe system of work for the control of inhibits, over-rides, links, interlocks, LTI’s and LO/LC valves.
- Custodian of the flange breaks management system, controlling and recording in flange break register.
- Maintain Red Line Mark Ups (RLMU) of P&ID’s.

**Context and environment**

The role will be carried out on the North Alwyn offshore platform, working with team of Staff and contracted production team members
- Broad operations background and experience, preferably in the Offshore Oil and Gas industry, but experience in the Petrochemicals or Refinery background is also acceptable
- Previous experience in a supervisory / team leader position, or alternatively, the potential to develop to a supervisory or team leader position is highly desirable
- Previous exposure as a Permit Authority and /Control Room operations
- Completion of a structured training programe, with the attainment of qualifications (including an NVQ in a related discipline), universally recognised within the area of field operations (for example a recognised NVQ, or other relevant structured formal training, preferably from an approved training body, e.g. OPITO).
- The possession of a ‘trade core skill’ (including electrician, instrument control, mechanical or process operations), together with the proven ability to carry out first line maintenance, is also highly desirable
- Basic knowledge of fluid and gas mechanics and hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic controls should be complemented by at least 5 years relevant experience in offshore operations.
- Have good communication skills and the ability to interact with personnel at all levels and direct, coordinate and organise work of production and maintenance personnel.
