Motor Technical Underwriter

LV=GI have a fantastic opportunity for a Motor Technical Underwriter to join the GI Broker Personal Lines Under Writing team. The role can be based at Brentwood or Croydon with the opportunity to work from home 2/3 days a week. Dependent on your office location you will be required to travel between the Brentwood or Croydon office as and when required. We adopt a flexible working environment with a focus on learning & development.

You will support delivery of the business plan and strategic goals by managing the audit and control of Personal Lines business (car). You will contribute to the constant review of product underwriting terms to enable development of the products whilst complying with relevant regulation.

You will provide technical support, training and guidance to the business when required.

**About you**:
You will have previous Motor Insurance experience ideally within an underwriting team with technical knowledge of the Broker and Software house systems desirable.

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to be persuasive and respond objectively when challenged. You have good problem solving, decision making and analytical mind set - thinking objectively with good numerical and analytical skills.

You will have good organisational skills, excellent attention to detail with the ability work as part of a team when required.

You will have good understanding of regulatory & compliance requirements.

**Details**:

- Deal with policies which fall out of the standard underwriting process including cancellation or voidance of policies if required.
- Handle complex technical Underwriting queries and indemnities from various areas of the business and externally.
- Review product and competitor features and identify commercial opportunities for product development and for areas where growth can occur.
- MI analysis to review incoming business to ensure quality and portfolio mix and make recommendations to enhance or develop the business.
- To assist in delivering consistent policy terms and wording across all products and distribution channels, to manage underwriting risk and be compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Review claims, and liaise with the claims department on emerging patterns.
- Handle complaints ensuring that company and regulatory requirements are met.
- Support the Operational Underwriting team
- Agree and manage underwriting authorities within the team
- Handle technical underwriting referrals and where authority is outside Operations permitted limits.
- Understand and comply on an on-going basis with all legal, regulatory and industry codes of practice and provide compliance training and coaching within the wider UW team.
- Support the driving of change and innovation by constantly improving working practices and streamlining processes, whilst maintaining an active part in all Underwriting related project work.
- Maintain reference material ensuring timely updates and rollout.
