Income Management Officer

**About the role**
The purpose of the role is to aid the delivery of a consistent Income Management Service, supporting our 10,000+ tenants across Cornwall, maximise income collection for Cornwall Council and Cornwall Housing whilst supporting sustainable tenancies.
The Income Officer will support service operation and delivery, ensuring service standards are met and improving performance, through providing advice, support and assistance to tenants, and encouraging tenants to be at the heart of the decision making process.
Duties will include:
- providing front line support, responding to phone calls, management of the team mailboxes and meeting with tenants in the office
- reconciling the rents system on a weekly basis ensuring the debit raise is as expected
- processing direct debit mandates, checking the validity of bank details and that the mandate has been completed and conforms to the BACS regulations
- verification of tenancies and rental/ service charge amounts via the Department of Works & Pensions’ (DWP) Universal Credit Landlord Portal
- processing all refunds, write-offs and other journal requests and once verified, input on the Housing Management System
- monitoring all accounts with payment agreements, and processing all failed arrangements for further recovery action

**About you**
You should:
- be competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and be comfortable using and developing spreadsheets
- have a working knowledge of a range of Direct Debit process including the Direct Debit guarantee
- be customer focussed and display empathy and patience when dealing with customers/ tenants, able to deal appropriately with challenging behaviours
