Your new role

National Highways currently has an exciting opportunity for a Project Property Advisor to join our team based in Bedford.

The Project Property Advisor, also ensures that the land and rights required for a project scheme are acquired efficiently whilst good levels of customer service (internal and external), financial propriety and governance requirements are met.

What you’ll be leading on
- By working with project managers and the team and under the guidance from the Principal Property Adviser, ensure that property issues on projects are correctly dealt with
- Attend project public consultations and exhibitions to expressly advise and meeting with landowners to support those directly affected by scheme proposals.
- Ensure that our professional valuers and solicitors are fully briefed on cases and actively monitor and manage their performance.
- Produce and manage case-based information for e.g. agreed position statements for the DCO planning process.
- Ensure that case management information is correctly collected and entered into management information systems, both by self and by case managers.
- Guide and support case managers in their detailed handling of property acquisition and other cases. Make decisions in more complex and challenging cases, working with and guiding the case manager.
- Understand the requirements around compulsory acquisition and governance regulations in this arena, to ensure cases are managed appropriately. Ensure that administrative processes are correctly followed
- Assist the Senior Property Advisor in prioritising workloads, and in monitoring the overall performance of the property supply chain (professional valuers and solicitors).
- Adopt a positive approach to learning and improvement both for self and for team members. Look to identify opportunities to improve processed and personal performance

To be successful you’ll need

- Relevant work experience or equivalent vocational training or both (e.g. property legal secretary, insurance or banking industry casework).
- An understanding of property matters and processes
- Demonstration of excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex matters concisely and clearly
- Good understanding of the specialised principles and processes governing the work of Projects (e.g. Project Management, Resourcing, Finance, Procurement).
- Good understanding of staff performance and line manager responsibilities
