University of York, United Kingdom University of York Full time

The Hull York Medical School (HYMS) brings together the strengths of the Universities of Hull and York in life, clinical, health and social sciences in partnership with the NHS.

This new post will be based within the Wolfson Palliative Care Research Centre, which is part of Hull York Medical School, within the Faculty of Health Sciences at University of Hull and based on the University of Hull campus. The overall aim of the Wolfson Palliative Care Research Centre is to generate new knowledge systematically in six areas: under-researched symptoms of those with advanced illness and their families; reducing inequalities in palliative care outcomes; researching health and social care systems to improve palliative care in low and middle income countries; measurement of individual and service-level palliative care outcomes and implementation of these measures into practice; social and psychological aspects of palliative care; and implementation of palliative care evidence into policy and practice

We are now seeking to recruit a Lecturer to build capacity in our research and teaching in Global Palliative Care. The successful applicant will have a developing profile in the field of global palliative care that directly compliments ongoing research studies and fits within the Wolfson Research Centre strategy. You will have a track record of achievement and will be expected to lead the development and delivery of cutting-edge research studies that will generate external research income and REF-returnable research outputs of international quality.

You will also be expected to deliver excellent teaching within our undergraduate and taught Masters programmes, as well as offering undergraduate and postgraduate research project supervision.

We are seeking to appoint an individual who aligns to our values:
Everyone Counts: We promote a culture of diversity, respect and aspiration, and empower everyone to realise their potential.

Pursuing Excellence: We combine a pioneering approach with innovative methods to drive excellence in all we do.

Socially Responsible: We are dedicated to public service and to improving lives within our communities.

Collaborative: We work in partnership, recognising the strengths of others.

The University strives to be diverse and inclusive - a place where we can ALL be ourselves.

We offer family friendly, flexible working arrangements, with forums and inclusive facilities to support our staff. #EqualityatYork
