Accounts Payable and Customer Payments Manager

What you will be doing:
Leadership
- To lead the Accounts Payable and Customer Payment teams
- Developing and delivering a culture that puts our customer's first

Accounts Payable
- To lead the Accounts Payable team in the day-to-day processing and payment of suppliers invoices and any other means of payment in accordance with agreed terms and conditions of payment.
- Ensure the accuracy, timeliness and efficiency of all processes.
- Working with the Procurement and Unit 4 teams to oversee robust and efficient procedures for the verification of new suppliers and the addition to the U4 system ensuring all legal and regulatory information is checked to allow lawful payment to be made.
- Oversee the maintenance of the BACS processing system (currently auto pay) ensuring users approval rights are appropriate and reviewed regularly.
- Work with colleagues across the business to develop their understanding of Accents payment processing policies and procedures, delivering training and coaching where appropriate.
Customer Payment Processing
- Responsible for all customer payment processing and that all relevant bank related postings are processed including suspense account.
- To develop systems and enhancements to ensure an efficient way of posting all income to accounts.
- Responsible for all cash collection monitoring, monitoring early warning indicators and working closely with the Income Team.
- Oversee the calculation of bad debts and bad debt provision each month.
- Update and maintain a weekly/monthly cash flow forecast relating to rental/service charge income.
- To ensure income is accurately reflected in the management and statutory accounts.
- Liaise with Income Strategist and Income Team on arrears, payment strategies and extrapolating governmental welfare payments impacting the business.
General
- Manage accounting functions and maintain of general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- To maintain robust electronic records for all processes including accruals, forecasts, commentary, budget meetings and assumptions.
What you will bring:
The must haves:
- Proven ability in preparing and presenting financial information for non-finance contacts.
- Experience of managing people, through supportive and developmental methods.
- Qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent) or studying towards qualification.
- Experience using a range of financial and other IT systems to deliver a great customer service and drive innovation and improvement.
- Experience of dealing with customers from a wide range of different backgrounds in a firm and diplomatic manner.
- Excellent communication skills, spoken, written, and verbal.
- Ability to write reports, effectively turning data into detailed reports for the business.
- Self-motivated and able to work using own initiative with minimum supervision.
