**Marine Engineering & Systems and Complex Ships**

The Senior Engineering Manager role is based within our Marine Engineering & Systems and Complex Ships area.

Babcock is rapidly establishing itself as an international Naval ship designer and builder. We have built on the success of the UK MoD Type 31 Frigate and have secured contracts for frigate export variants (AH140) with overseas customers. As well as supportingexports of frigates the engineering team is actively working on other ship newbuild and life extension programs around the world, from small fast attack craft all the way up to aircraft carriers.

**The difference our new Senior Engineering Manager will make**
As a Senior Engineering Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will be joining the Engineering Leadership team responsible for improving the outcomes in terms of Quality (Engineering Goodness), Time and Cost of our complex ship programmes.You will join a team gaining a reputation for delivering complex projects on time and exceeding our customer expectations. You will join Babcock at an exciting time with a varied portfolio of warship design.

Day to day, you'll provide governance across all Engineering and technical activities within the assigned projects to ensure the technical solution, meets the customer's requirement and that the technical risks are managed.

You will also be accountable for developing people, processes and systems in support of the strategic direction of the Complex Ships market sector.

**Essential experience**
- You will ideally hold an engineering degree or comparable academic standard in a relevant discipline.
- You will also hold chartership status
- Ideally, you will have proven multi-discipline experience in naval surface ships shipbuilding
- You will also have the ability to be flexible and mindful of cultural differences when managing the international customers.
