No.1 Performing Arts (NOPA) charity was established in 1991 to address the needs of deprived and underprivileged men, women, young people and children. The organisation provides three main services, Outreach Work, Counselling and Performing Arts.

We provide Outreach Work in the community for disadvantaged families, including those who are hard-to-reach. We work in partnership with community law centres, housing, social services, and other statutory bodies, to offer advice and guidance on housing,debt management, immigration, and benefits issues.

We also provide counselling services in schools for children and parents who have challenging emotional and behavioural issues. We work in partnership with schools, social services and CAMHS, to support children and their parents who may be displaying earlysigns of mental health issues.

**FAMILY OUTREACH WORKER JOB DESCRIPTION**

We are seeking to recruit a part-time Family Outreach Worker and would love to hear from you if you have the following qualifications and experience:

- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Health & Social Care, Information, Advice or Guidance Qualification (IAG)
- 2 years’ social work experience, working with disadvantaged and hard-to-reach families
- Experienced in advocating on behalf of parents/guardians and making referrals to statutory organisations and other agencies
- Experienced in providing advice and support to vulnerable families to mitigate, reduce or avoid harm, neglect, or abuse
- Experienced in supporting and encouraging the personal development of parents through training and workshops

The main purpose of the Family Outreach Worker is to support families by providing advice and guidance on their social needs and signpost them to statutory organisations and other relevant agencies.

**(c)Working Hours**: 30 hours a week for 36 weeks

**(d)Salary**: £15 per hour

1. **Job Summary**:
The main purpose of the Family Outreach Worker is to support families by providing advice and guidance on their social needs and signpost them to statutory organisations and other relevant agencies.

2. **Key Tasks**:

- To advocate on behalf of parents/guardians and make referrals to statutory organisations and other agencies.
- To provide advice and support to vulnerable families to mitigate, reduce or avoid harm, neglect, or abuse.
- To support and encourage the personal development of parents through training and workshops.
- To encourage families to take up services that are available to them.
- To attend case reviews, team and multidisciplinary team meetings.
- To produce regular monitoring and evaluation reports as required.
- To update and maintain the database of families.
- To supervise and support student placements and volunteers in their roles.
- To carry out other tasks and duties as may be reasonably required.

**Person Specification**

**Essential Qualifications**:

- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Health & Social Care, Information, Advice or Guidance Qualification (IAG)

**Essential Experience**:

- 2 years’ social work experience, working with disadvantaged and hard-to-reach families.

**Skills/Abilities**:

- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to write reports, using good English, grammar, punctuation, spelling and strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational, case management and record-keeping skills.
- Excellent ICT skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office packages and internet and ability to conduct web searches.
- Ability to work under pressure and deal effectively with competing priorities to meet deadlines.

**Knowledge**:

- Knowledge of Data Protection Act, 2018 and GDPR legislation and ability to handle confidential information.
- Ability to comply with the safeguarding duty under the Children’s Act 1989 and 2004 and the Care Act 2014 and subsequent updates to these legislations.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work etc. Act, 1974.
- Understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities.

**Personal Qualities**:

- Excellent and punctual timekeeping.
- Able to adopt a flexible working attitude with a willingness to travel and work from different venues and environments within the London Borough of Lambeth and surrounding boroughs.
- Ability to carry out home visits to hard-to-reach families.
- Highly motivated and enthusiastic and professional approach to work.
- Approachable, personable, and able to adapt to different situations, always demonstrating a high level of service.
