**Job Description**:
The role is within the Streets sector of our Roads business line, delivering micro-simulation modelling alongside team members responsible for concept, preliminary design, detailed design, project delivery and construction management services as well as supporting other AECOM business lines with specialised operational traffic modelling.
This is an opportunity to join an established modelling team who can provide mentoring and career progression, working alongside and collaboratively with specialists in complete streets, green growth and traffic signal design.
The role will suit individuals wanting to take the next step in their career in traffic modelling and who share our enthusiasm to deliver an expanding workload, grow modelling capabilities and support clients regionally, nationally and internationally.
**Key requirements of the role**:
- Attend internal and external project briefings to gain overview of projects and understanding of role within the project
- Appoint, monitor and manage sub-consultants where necessary for collection of required data / information
- Carry out detailed analysis of traffic data
- Develop, calibrate and validate base models. Prepare forecast and option models
- Write and present formal and technical reports, working papers and correspondence
- Work directly with clients and assisting with client meetings and presentations
- Assist in the preparation of detailed client briefs or fee proposals for manager approval and contribute to major bids
- Share knowledge, supervise and guide junior team members
- Establish strong working relationships with other disciplines within AECOM and external organisations where required
- Familiar with relevant Health and Safety regulations and to promote a culture of awareness within the team
- Keep up to date with current best practice, techniques and innovation
- Opportunity to assist with training delivery and preparation.
**Specific skill requirements**:
- 2+ years of hands-on experience of the use of Vissim micro-simulation software (with VisVAP, VisWalk, COM and PC MOVA experience desirable)
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Knowledge of traffic data collection requirements and techniques
- Ability to interrogate modelling outputs and assess scheme impacts
- Experience of model calibration and validation techniques and criteria
- Good report writing skills
- Proficient user of MS Excel, Word and Powerpoint
- A willingness to learn and develop new skills.
**Desirable skills**:
- Experience and understanding of operational traffic signal modelling using LinSig and/or TRANSYT
- Awareness of strategic modelling software and transport model hierarchy
- Experience conducting independent research on a specific topic or general area
- Additional experience in other software such as AIMSUN, Paramics Discovery, TRANSYT, SATURN, Visum not essential, but desirable
