Sciensus are currently looking for a Associate Practitioner (Patient Care Technician) in **Northampton**. As a Patient Care Technician, you will deliver gold standard care and assist in the induction, supervision and training of Healthcare
Support Workers and trainee Assistant Practitioners. It’s your opportunity to make a real difference to peoples’ lives every single day.
You will provide safe and high-quality care by implementing programmes of care and contribute to care plan modifications, undertaking risk assessments as directed and within the limits of own knowledge and competence. Undertake specifically identified administrative and clerical tasks associated with patient care which facilitate the smooth running of the virtual ward/department. To communicate in a timely and effectively manner with other team members and to communicate effectively with the ward staff, therapists, consultants and Nurse / clinician in charge. Complete documentation accurately and contribute to reports of patients’ activity and progress, recognising that the qualified practitioner has personal accountability for entries to patient records made by others under their supervision.
In addtion assist with the induction, care certificate, formal assessment and on-going development of Band 2 & 3 HCSWs, acting as a role model. Maintain and improve the patient’s mobility using appropriate equipment and handling techniques. Obtain requested routine bloods/investigations; have a basic understanding of normal and altered values, reporting adverse results. Assist with and undertake patient assessment (under supervision and after appropriate delegation from the registered practitioner). Obtain requested specimens and ensure transportation to appropriate department - urine, faeces, sputum, exudates e.g. swabs - nose, eye, wound site, etc
As this is a regional role travelling to visit patients in their home setting, it is crucial that you have full UK driving licence.

**This all sounds great - What key skills do I need to apply**:
- Demonstrates significant experience as a HCSW /RA involved in direct patient care / caring for a group of patients and hold an Patient Care Technician qualification
- Good standard of written and spoken English
- Ability to communicate complex and sensitive information
- Able to support and assess other unqualified staff undertaking the care certificate. Ability to work autonomously, within scope of role, and ability to summon help in an emergency
- Is computer literate with Microsoft excel, word and power point - Willingness to participate in audit
- Able to organise and manage own workload in relation to patient care, seeking advice as appropriate
- Demonstrates awareness / knowledge of nursing procedures and practices
