**Vacancy for Reception/Care Navigation staff**

Pen Y Cae Surgery is a busy & friendly teaching practice situated on the outskirts of Ebbw Vale Town. We have a clinical team comprising of GP’s, Nurses and a Clinical Pharmacist who work collaboratively to deliver a high standard of patient care while being supported by our reception and admin team. A positive and respectful working environment is promoted at all times for our staff.

The role involves speaking to patients in person or over the telephone and as such, often being the first point of contact at the Practice, communication skills are therefore important.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act professionally as the first point of contact for all patients and visitors
- Answer the telephone and care navigate patients to the most appropriate service according to their needs, in line with practice protocol.
- Assist with booking appointments for patients
- Deal with queries from patients and staff and other health care professionals in a courteous, efficient and effective way
- Give information to patients clearly, taking into account their individual needs and relay messages accurately to appropriate practice staff.
- Assist with the prescribing process and the issue of all acute and repeat prescription requests within practice timescales, following the prescribing protocol.
- Be aware of the practice confidentiality and communication policies and maintain strict confidentiality/effective communication at all times.
- Keep reception/administrative office areas tidy and be aware of and ensure health and safety regulations are maintained.
- Undertake filing, shredding and photocopying as appropriate.
- Carry out any other duties requested of you
- Work with other team members to ensure deadlines are met.
- Undertake further training and development as necessary.

The post will be split over 5 days with a mix of morning and afternoon shifts to cover the practice opening hours of 8-6:30.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

**Salary**: From £9.50 per hour

**Experience**:
