Lincat manufactures products for cooking, holding and food display, which are supplied to commercial kitchens of every kind. We are looking for a self-motivated and experienced Buyer to join our team reporting to the Purchasing Manager.
The role of the Buyer sits in the commercial function relying heavily on excellent communication and organisational skills with all stakeholders for its success, the role requires the use of best practice of supplier relationship management and strong negotiation skills to support our competitive advantage and profitability by obtaining the best value of goods and services in line with the business plan.
Optimising margins via intelligent procurement, building relationships with key suppliers. Additionally, the role will ask the individual to identify and take advantage of both tactical and strategic opportunities to reduce material costs via a number of routes. While working with the Purchasing Manager in building a pipeline for future procurement improvements.

Key result areas:
- Use skilled negotiation techniques, product and market knowledge to confidently negotiate the best supply agreements.
- Proactively seek cost reductions on existing suppliers and components to achieve the PPV budget in line with the Business Plan.
- Building Relationships with key suppliers
- Support Engineering securing new components in line with NPD project time lines
- Optimising margins via intelligent procurement
Role responsibilities:
- Buying of a wide variety of commodity types used in the manufacturing process of our products at an optimal price and availability.
- Maintaining strategic vendor relationships
- Meet suppliers and negotiate terms of contract
- Rationalising the supplier base
- Benchmark current supply base to continually improve cost/quality competitiveness
- Identify and take advantage of both tactical and strategic opportunities
- Managing an approved suppliers list in accordance with ISO standards ensuring new suppliers fulfil our requirements for quality, service, and offer the best value for money
- Appraisal of new suppliers appropriately according to the complexity of the product
- Keep up to date with market trends and react to changes in demand
- Set up pre shipment quality plans for suppliers.
**Skills**:
- IT literate with experience in Excel
- Some formal business/purchasing qualification e.g. NVQ, Business Studies or CIPS
- Ability to demonstrate track record in purchasing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated and self-managing and be able to work as part of a team
- Effectively manage multiple projects and work to deadlines
- Ability to prioritise workload
- Ability and willingness to travel to supplier sites when necessary, this may include foreign travel
