Nottingham, United Kingdom Newmedica Full time

**Who are we?**

Newmedica are on of the leading providers of NHS ophthalmology services in England, providing outpatient appointments, diagnostic testing and eye surgery. We aim to change lives through better sight and eye health.

We care for thousands of NHS and private patients a year in our specialist eye clinics across the country. We have significant growth plans over the next few years as we look to establish a national footprint and open many new sites across the UK.

We are thrilled to say that following an independently conducted survey of Newmedica colleagues to tell us what it’s like to work here, we have been certified as a Great Place to Work for the second year running. The feedback has directly contributed to Newmedica being listed among the UK’s top 50 Best Workplaces for 2025.

**Overview of the role**

We are looking for a new Clinical Training Lead for Ophthalmic Theatre who will play an active role in the development and delivery of Newmedica’s clinical learning and development strategy. You will work alongside other health professionals as well as the Learning and Development team, to design and support the delivery of a programme of ophthalmic theatre skills training which caters around our core offering of cataract, glaucoma, oculoplastics, VR and retinal specialities.

This is a full time, remote role with regular national travel.

**So what will I be doing?**

As Clinical Training Lead, you will assist in the design and delivery of clinical training in both theatre and outpatients. You will contribute to the development of the clinical training and development plan for both registered and non-registered staff groups in ophthalmic theatres.

You will be involved in the planning and delivery of regular training sessions which will include theatre induction, utilising technology to reduce travel where possible. In addition, you will support a growing network of in-service clinical trainers and assessors, including biometry champions in each clinic, to deliver clinical training to the appropriate standard.

From a governance perspective, you will ensure that training programmes integrate the latest national and professional standards of practice to promote consistent, high quality care and supervision across all services.

**What skills and experience do I need?**

You will be a Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with current NMC or HCPC registration, trained in ophthalmic scrub and with experience in admissions and discharge. You will also have a deep understanding of different areas of perioperative practice. A clinical training qualification while beneficial is not essential.

You will be experienced in the design and delivery of clinical training and comfortable teaching and training in small multidisciplinary teams and organisation wide. Your ability to communicate effectively to both clinicians and non-clinicians will be key in this role alongside your adaptability which will allow you to adjust to different learning needs.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about patient care and improving clinical standards and who has a fundamental commitment to providing high standards of patient care in your own practice and therefore the ability to encourage this in others.

You will have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work closely with, collaborate and learn from your colleagues.

**What can we offer you?**
- Salary of up to £49,000 depending on experience
- Up to 17% company bonus, paid quarterly, based on company performance and personal objectives
- Annual car allowance of £5,500
- Profit share scheme
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and 1 day birthday leave
- Company pension
- Access to a range of benefits including free eye tests, discounted or free glasses, a free 24/7 wellbeing/counselling/advice service, private medical insurance, private dental care, health care scheme, death in service cover, an opportunity to sign up to a tax-free cycle to work and a retail/technology discount scheme
- An environment where your learning and development is supported through a range of learning tools and courses

Please note that we use video interviews as part of our recruitment process. If you are shortlisted, you will be asked to complete a short video interview as the next stage of the process.

Newmedica is fully committed to safeguarding the welfare of all people, irrespective of gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, race, language, religion, ethnic or social origin.
