As a part of that mission, we are pioneering the future of avatars in social experiences and are looking for a tech art leader to join our team.The Technical Art Manager will build, manage and mentor a multidisciplinary team of tech art leads and tech artists who are building cutting edge art pipelines and novel character technologies. You will be at the forefront of building an avatar system that seamlessly works across both real-time and offline surfaces including performing under the demands of high-end VR. It will also be required to scale to serve the billions of users that use Meta products.Join a cross functional team of software engineers, artists, product managers and designers who are passionate about creating a cutting-edge avatar experience that can provide the endless choices our users want to represent themselves in the Metaverse.

**Technical Art Manager, Avatars Responsibilities**:

- Support a team of technical artists and technical leads, providing guidance, feedback, education, performance feedback, coaching and mentoring
- Identify, recruit, interview and hire technical artists
- Provide creative and technical leadership for innovative digital content solutions
- Proactively engage with PM, Designer, Eng & Art leads to define art pipeline, workflow and technical avatar product needs.
- Support artists in building tools for more efficient workflow.
- Learn constantly, dive into new areas with unfamiliar technologies, and embrace the ambiguity of problem solving in a fast-paced environment
- Deliver, request, and accept constructive feedback with a positive attitude with objective and accurate feedback
- Educate team members and partners on digital content best practices and techniques
- Identify and prioritize digital content needs across project proposals

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Extensive experience managing technical artists in games, film or other real-time development
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Interest in empowering teams to produce results
- Experience with production toolsets and knowledge of 3D Art Tools (e.g. Shotgun, Jira, Trello, Maya, Houdini, Blender, etc.)
- Experience having supported 3D asset content creation in traditional or unique pipelines through tool development and/or character development
- Communication and leadership skills to support a team working in an ambiguous environment
- Technical art and problem-solving skills - understand the underlying technology and tools necessary to power an advanced avatar system
- Collaboration skills with an experience explaining complex concepts in an easy to understand way
- Proven track record of professional content development, including shipping one or more products using digital content creation tools
- Experience with game optimization techniques.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Knowledge of emerging technologies
- Experience in game engines such as Unreal or Unity
- Experience working with Virtual Reality.
- Familiar with popular open source projects like USD
