**About the Role**
An recent opportunity has become available to work as a Social Worker in the Royal Borough of Kingston's Mental Health Social Care Team (MHSC Team).
The MHSC Team work to meet the statutory duties of the local authority under relevant legislation, for people whose primary care need is related to their mental health. We also work with adults with autism who do not have an associated learning difficulty, and young people transitioning into adulthood.
As a Mental Health Social Worker, your responsibilities will include**:
- Undertaking statutory duties related to the care of adults and of their carers as defined in the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Mental Health Act 1983
- Managing a caseload of complex cases for assessment, safeguarding, and review under the above legislation
- Undertaking regular duty on the team's duty rota
- Undertaking mental capacity assessments
- Liaise closely with key partners in Health, other teams within the local authority and others as relevant

**About Us**
The Royal Borough of Kingston's Mental Health Social Care Team is specialist team within the local authority's Adult Social Care department (ASC). We work to assess the social care needs of adults with mental health issues under the Care Act, and other relevant legislation, and to put in place appropriate services to meet these needs. This can take the form of purchasing specialist supported accommodation, or putting in place care packages to support adults at home. We work closely with professionals in the South West London Mental Health NHS Trust, who are one of our key partners. In addition to this, we work with young people transitioning into adulthood, and those with autism. The team also incorporates the Borough's AMHP service. The team is based at Woodroffe House,Tolworth Hospital, but since the beginning of lockdown, has been working mainly from home and have introduced hybrid working into the service.
**About You**
There is an expectation that all social workers working within the adult mental health team hold the qualification of Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHP) and Best Interest Assessor (BIA) or be willing to undertake training and do so on completion of 2 years post-qualification practice.
It is desirable for the successful applicant to have experience of working within local authority social care and experience of working with people with mental health problems, autism and young people in transition to adulthood.
