The Bexley Children's SLT team is part of Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust rated amongst the top 10 HSJ (Health Service Journal) list of 100 best NHS organisations to work for in England.
We are looking for someone motivated, with experience of working with children with speech and language needs (SLCN) to join our team as a Band 4, Speech and Language therapy assistant. Of an advantage would be experience of working with children who are deaf and/or ASD. You will support SLTs with assessment / delivering intervention programmes to early years & school age children/young people with SLCN and support with administrative tasks associated with the role.

**Main duties include**:
- Providing speech and language intervention for hearing and deaf children in mainstream school settings as part of the Joint Communication Team (JCT).
- Supporting the SLTs in the deafness team to deliver interventions for preschool and/or school-aged deaf children.
- Supporting assessment and development of children’s speech, language and communication skills. You will work with groups, pairs and one-to-one with children, and offer support and advice to parents, carers and educational settings.
- Working in preschools / schools and visiting settings. You may also make home visits. You will have the skills to work independently, to demonstrate speech and language interventions with parents, carers and education staff, following a care plan devised by the SLT. You will join in the service delivery of training for parents and early years/school staff.
- Supporting the preparation of materials for delivery of therapy programmes, plus administrative and organisational duties to support the smooth running of the service. IT skills for electronic records and reports are required.
- We are looking for a member of the team who is willing to travel within the Borough.
