We offer support to Children and Young People through-out the North-East. We have a fantastic opportunity for a Support Worker to join our fast-growing organisation.

Our children’s home in Chester-le-Street is situated on a large farm. The home itself is a large, detached building which was originally a Farmhouse. The home offers a residential long-term placement for three children up to 18 years of age, including those who may have emotional, behavioural, social, or learning difficulties or disabilities.

The home specialises in supporting children with very complex needs and staff are trained accordingly. We pride ourselves on person centered support, focusing on a therapeutic approach that can help the child thrive.

**About You**

You will be expected to:

- Ensure that our young people have an experience of childhood that they can reflect upon and carry with them into adulthood.
- Fully support the Manager in ensuring the Home operates as efficiently
- Go above and beyond for our children and young people
- Demonstrate a good awareness of child development, family dynamics and safeguarding.
- Support the team in delivering positive outcomes our children/ young people.
- Start every day with a fresh outlook
- Be passionate about making a difference.
- To deliver support through a trauma focused lens.
- Excellent communication skills
- Good knowledge of Ofsted, Health and Safety and Local Authority requirements

**Requirements**:

- Minimum of 2 years’ experience of working in a residential children’s home
- You are expected to have completed a Level 4 diploma or be willing to work towards it and complete it within the first 2 years of employment.
- Experience working in a similar setting with children with autism, learning difficulties and challenging behaviour and young people is essential.
- Must be at least 21 years of age to work in this setting
- A satisfactory DBS check and references checks as part of our Safer Recruitment process.
- The Right to work in the UK full time without Sponsorship.
- Full UK Driving licence.

**The Role**
- Responsibilities:_
- To provide support to our young people within the Home or the wider community as appropriate.
- To follow and ensure Ofsted standards are met and strive to exceed them
- To work within a multi-agency network, including parents and families of the children and young people
- Complete health and safety checks and cleaning tasks as set out within the Home’s daily duties
- Go above and beyond to ensure all children have a positive and caring experience of childhood that they can reflect on and carry with them into adulthood
- Maintain high care standards as set by the company
- To ensure that the safety and welfare of children staying at the home
- Promote optimal child development and be alert to signs that may indicate that the child is not meeting key developmental milestones
- Safely transport children
- Follow all Policies and Procedures and work within legislative guidelines and best practice
- Build and maintain high quality and appropriate professional relationships with children to enable positive change to take place
- Communicate clearly and sensitively, building effective relationships with young people, families, and other professionals
- Undertake any training and development necessary to meet the duties and responsibilities of the post
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with your colleagues, line managers and the Senior Management Team
- Work flexibly with children’s services and other agencies, to meet the needs of children
- Promote a positive workforce culture that is focused on the development and improvement of the home
- Undertake such other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the grading and nature of the post.

- Shifts available are full-time/part-time dayshift and permanent night shifts
- Salary_
- Support Worker Grade A £14 per hour
- Senior Grade B £15 per hour
- Team Leader Grade C £16 per hour
