Our client are construction contractors who provide planned and reactive maintenance in the Rail, Education, Health, Local Authority and Church sectors as well-performing small civil engineering works across the South and East of England. They support everystage of the project from the initial design and conception through to the final delivery and preventative maintenance.
They are looking for a new Head of Health & Safety to join their close-knit team. The successful individual will lead the Health & Safety and Quality & Environmental Management across the company, including responsibility for Compliance & Safety. Dutieswill include liaising with all employees to ensure that all work carried out complies with the relevant sections of the 'Health and Safety at Work Act’ etc. Ensuring staff have adequate H&S awareness training required for their role.
**Head of HSQE - Position Overview**
- Deliver health and safety strategies in the workplace according to legal guidelines, providing advice and support as necessary
- Review and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety
- Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and comply with current regulations & legislation
- Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
- Monitor compliance to policies and legislation by inspecting employees and operations
- Manage the inspection of equipment and tools to observe possible unsafe conditions
- Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
- Responsibility for managing & monitoring all company accreditation requirements
- Oversee the investigation of accidents and incidents in-line with (HSE) regulations to discover causes and advise on prevention, leading towards zero Accident Incident Rate (AIR)
- Produce and provide quality responses for company PQQ’s & Tenders as required
- Manage company risk assessment process, CDM notifications and compliance monitoring
- Manage the provision, selection and use of protective clothing and equipment.
- Identify new working methods, equipment, or materials, which could reduce risks.
- Identify potential hazards on new sites before work starts, health and safety factors affecting the selection of plant or equipment, sub-contractors. Ensure procedures of Risk Assessments and Method Statements have been met.
**Head of HSQE - Position Requirements**
- Competent by qualification & proven experience in a H&S Management role
- Diploma in Health and Safety (NEBOSH, NVQ, NCRQ)
- Experience of working as a H&S professional in a busy environment with a wide range of risks
- Good working knowledge of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH)
- Excellent working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
- Confident to deliver company/site inductions and H&S training to employees
- Good understanding of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 22301 & 27001
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent as a minimum, working towards NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
- SMSTS qualified
- CSCS Card
- Full UK Driving License (Travel to job sites is required)
**Head of HSQE - Position Remuneration**
- Salary between £65,000 and £70,000
- Car Allowance (must meet policy requirements)
- 20 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Pension scheme
- You will be part of a friendly and busy team
- Monday to Friday, between 8am - 5:30pm
