We are advertising three permanent vacancies and three fixed-term 18 month assignments at this time.
As an organisation we have an ambition to be Carbon Net Zero by 2030 and this will influence how we do things in the future. We are planning for future climate change and flood scenarios, working with government, local councils, businesses, and communities to make our environment a better place for people and wildlife. We are looking for individuals with an enthusiastic and positive attitude that will help deliver our priorities.
This role is extremely varied and draws upon a diverse range of transferrable skills. Working closely with other teams, you can expect to be involved in any of the following:
- Data Management
- Project Planning and Delivery
- Engaging with local communities, businesses, and customers.
You will also help to ensure we can make evidence-based decisions to manage our assets effectively to inform our future investment programme. This may include site work to understand our asset base and ensure we manage it well.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
- The team- We are a motivated and vibrant team responsible for managing flood and coastal erosion risk assets to reduce the impact of flooding. We do this by managing the whole lifecycle of our assets, including the effects of climate change through planning, delivery, maintenance, and decommissioning. Our team is a mix of civil engineers, asset inspectors, maintenance programmers, project managers, senior users and various specialists including data analysts, incident leads and engagement officers.
- Experience/skills required- We are seeking applicants with a passion for and experience in asset management or engineering and a drive to protect our communities at risk of flooding. You’ll be confident, organised, and able to solve problems and implement solutions. Most important is your energy, enthusiasm and willingness to learn with excellent problem solving and communication skills.
You will be proficient in data and information management and the ability to use GIS would be advantageous. You will have some experience delivering projects including handling programmes and finances. You may need to travel to offices/locations where public transport is limited so a full UK driving licence is required.
You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incident or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment.
