1Up is a not for profit Community Interest Company that supports young people to identify and reach their potential through education & social inclusion.

The activities 1Up provides include;
- Delivering alternative education provision for both mainstream schools and Pupil Referral Units across Essex
- Providing a post 16 education offer for students with SEMH, SEND, EHCP
- Providing mentoring & sports activities for young people known to the Youth Offending Service & social care across Essex
- An evening youth / sport / music provision in Basildon

**Role Description**
- Provide tailored tutoring for Secondary and post 16 students with SEMH, Special Educational Needs (SEN) & EHCP or those who may be school refusers
- Adapt teaching methods to cater to the individual needs and learning styles of students
- Create engaging lesson plans and resources to support student learning and development
- Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents/guardians
- Collaborate with other 1Up staff to ensure a holistic approach to student support
- Understanding of SEN strategies and interventions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Working with partners and as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support young people and their families
- Adherence to the ways of working, polices & procedures of 1Up & partner organisations at all times
- To be resilient and to work creatively to engage young people who may be “hard to reach” or not wish to engage with other professionals or services

**Person Specification**

Experience working with or in partnership with schools, local authorities and other key partners - Desirable

Relevant tutoring / teaching qualification - Essential

Experience of teaching and tutoring young people with SEN, SEMH and helping them achieve - Essential

Have a “can do” attitude, are able to work alone, independently off own initiative, but also within a multi-disciplinary staff team as required - Essential

Educated to degree level -Desirable

Ability to undertake administration, monitoring & evaluation activities - Essential

A clear understanding of Safeguarding, Child Protection and Health & Safety protocols and the ability to demonstrate how this is embedded in their working practice - Essential

An understanding of how sport and the arts can be used to engage and develop young people - Desirable

Willingness to undertake additional training as required - Essential

A driving licence and use of own vehicle - Desirable

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Temp to perm, Freelance

Pay: £21.00-£45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 2 - 40 per week
