Job Purpose

The Storage Warehouse Operative’s primary role is to perform day to day duties of goods receiving and goods dispatching of all products relevant to agricultural operations. The role encompasses all aspects of goods handling, tele-handler operation, goods storage, grain drying, stock-taking and housekeeping.
The Storage Warehouse Operative role includes providing engineering and technical support when required.
Job Tasks
- Taking and following instructions from the Site Operations Manager.
- Responsible for daily checking of forklift trucks and telehandlers, reporting of any defects to the Site Operations Manager.
- Accurate goods receiving and checking against associated documentation.
- Accurate goods dispatching as per the picking list, and associated documentation.
- Loading and unloading of vehicles whilst adhering to safe working practices and maintaining a safe working environment.
- Responsible for Warehouse/ site housekeeping to the highest standards.
- Following stock rotation procedures.
- Assisting with stock taking procedures.
- Handling/ sorting/ processing/ bailing of waste materials (cardboard/ plastic/ waste wood/ scrap metals).
- Adherence to safe working practises and H & S instructions.
- Identify engineering problems and work with the Site Production Engineer to ensure solutions are implemented.
- Evaluate, organise and prioritise site maintenance workload within a schedule.
- Overseeing spare parts purchasing, including grease and consumables. Organising and keeping stocks.
- Organising annual / biannual servicing and calibrations, for example but not limited to the Weighbridge / weighers / compressor.
- Perform any tasks agreed by the Thompsons Site Production Engineer outside the usual day to day responsibilities.
- To attend training and hold certification required by the business e.g. FLT licence
- Correctly employ the use of all personal protective and safety equipment provided to ensure your safety and the safety of colleagues.
- To check with the Group Technical Manager or deputy for what action(s) are required for any feed safety incidents

In addition to the above, the post holder will be expected to carry out any reasonable task which falls within the scope and purpose of the post.
