**About the Role**

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you'll hold a core role within our Engineering Team.

You will provide technical expertise and guidance to operational and project delivery teams to drive regulatory compliance and ensure our assets are fit for purpose.

**Key accountabilities of the Senior Mechanical Engineer will include**:

- Act as a technical focal point for integrity management assessments on above ground installations, pipework and buried pipelines
- Identify, manage and monitor integrity issues and threats which have the potential to impact assets for continued service.
- Assess and continuously improve the performance of overpressure protection equipment across asset base through investigation and reliability data review
- Develop and implement Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) and Risk Based Inspection (RBI) strategies
- Conduct Fitness For Service (FFS) assessments on anomalies and defects in accordance to recognised industry standards e.g. API 579 FFS, BS 7910, ASME B31G and internal company standards
- Provide technical expertise to support innovation, field trials and hydrogen projects.
- Participate in incident investigations as required. Ensure that the learning from incident reviews and investigations are communicated with action plans delivered.
- Support research and technology development related to engineering assets, driving benefits into the business.
- Identifies the scope for continuous improvement of safety and business performance in areas of engineering practice
- Develops, recommends and implements improvements to engineering processes to improve efficiency or the quality of the service provided to stakeholders.
- Identifies and promotes best practice with operational and delivery teams, driving standardisation across the company.
- Support stakeholders with delivery of solutions for assets requiring remediation following inspection, maintenance and surveillance activities.
- Leads the scope development, review and technical acceptance of work undertaken by external engineering consultancies.
- Guide developing engineers, providing technical mentoring and management

**About You**

You’ll possess the majority of the following qualifications, skills and experience:

- Chartered Engineer (CEng)
- Engineering experience working within a gas transmission, distribution, oil and gas, process or petrochemical environment as a mechanical, piping or integrity engineer (or similar).
- Working knowledge of piping system and pipeline integrity management.
- Working knowledge of mechanical overpressure protection equipment (pressure relief valves and slam-shut valves).
- Demonstratable experience delivering and/or working within RBI / RCM strategies.
- Demonstratable experience carrying out Fitness for Service (FFS) assessments on piping and pipeline systems.
- Site experience in either engineering support, operational, construction or commissioning phases.
- Able to interpret engineering line diagrams (ELDs), pressure system drawings (PSDs), and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Uses a many sources of information (own knowledge, document libraries, standards, surveys etc) to make sound engineering judgements to problems.
