Often the children can display extreme challenging behaviors as a result of their conditions and all applicants should be aware that often this is a frequent part of the job. The school enjoys a beautiful setting in acres of woodland and period buildings. There is a high (support) staff:learner ratio; at least 1:1, usually 2:1. Much of the education is outdoors, whatever the weather so applicants should be physically able to undertake outdoor and physical activities. As an employer, the school has an excellent reputation with many staff staying for many many years at the school. There are also genuine opportunities to progress within the organisation with current members of the SLT having started as LSAs at the school. Applications are invited from Speech & Language Therapists (SALTs) that have experience of working with children that have complex special education needs and are accustomed to managing challenging behaviours. Previous Team Teach training or using other positive behaviour strategies would be an advantage in being considered for this job opportunity. For a successful applicant, free Team Teach training would be offered. There is a possibility that an experienced Speech & Language Therapist Assistant may be able to take on this role under a supervising registered SALT. Due to the somewhat remote nature of the school site, it’s beneficial that applicants have their own transport, although this is not an absolute necessity.
