**SENIOR LEGAL COUNSEL - INSURANCE - to £100000**

An experienced lawyer is required to join a major insurance sector client working as a senior legal counsel advising the underwriting and claims teams on a variety of issues. The role is based in London.

**Role Overview**

This In-House Counsel position providing specialist advice on coverage and wordings to the underwriting, claims and reinsurance groups at this major insurance client.

The firm is seeking a qualified solicitor or barrister with the following experience/characteristics:

- Minimum 5 years pqe with strong experience in policy wordings and coverage work either in-house or in private practice.
- Experience in Property & Casualty lines of insurance.
- Ability to review, redraft and analyse complex policy wordings and slip documentation essential.
- Commercial mind set which is able to balance legal concepts and issues against commercial realities, delivering balanced pragmatic legal advice.
- Experience of direct negotiation with third parties including lawyers, brokers and other counterparties.
- Legal Qualification to include a valid UK Practicing certificate.
- Team player who is able to work in a co-operative environment and engage effectively with others.
- Strong analytical and decision-making ability with sound judgement and decision making.
- Ability to provide commercially focused solutions to the business on a daily basis.
- An adaptable lawyer who is able to advise on a wide variety of areas of law
