**The Opportunity**
Reporting into the VP, Customer Operations, you will be responsible for our Payment & Reconciliation Operations. You will be managing payment processing across our banking & card product offerings. You own and develop tools and processes that move money from payment initiation and processing approvals to reconciliation and managing transaction issues. This role includes managing the day-to-day running and development of our Payment Operations & Reconciliation team, formulating our ongoing payment operations strategy and driving effectiveness as our payment volumes continue to scale and our product offering becomes increasingly sophisticated. You will have the support of dedicated banking and card product squads dedicated to process improvements and tooling.
**Your Responsibilities**:
- People Management_
- Lead a team of Payment & Reconciliations Operations Analysts and Specialists
- Drive a culture of high engagement and motivation couple with a continuous improvement mindset
- Ensure the team can process and reconcile across multiple time zones to meet our customer's needs
- Operational Performance & Optimisation_
- Ensure that Payments and Reconciliations Operations maintain high performance levels and always process and reconcile payments on time, every time.
- Drive end to end visibility of our payments processes in order to make informed decisions about where to optimise and how to improve Straight Through Processing (STP) rates
- Work in close collaboration with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Operations Managers and other stakeholders across the business to prioritise projects and improvements incl. tooling
- Ensure that we can handle new products seamlessly from a processing perspective and that a solid operating model is been designed
- Scale our Reconciliation function which is a critical control responsible for reconciling and resolving breaks across our banking rails, card schemes, and customer accounts.
- Governance and oversight of BACS, Faster Payments, SWIFT, SEPA schemes.
- Strategy & Communication_
- Ensure that we have a well defined and ambitious strategy for Payments & Reconciliation Operations that fully aligns and enables our Product and company strategy
- Ensure that the Operations strategy is well understood by everyone especially Product Development
- Strengthen Payments & Reconciliation Operations’ profile internally. Be the champion for your area and ensure that Payments & Reconciliation Operations work is understood and appreciated across the organisation
- Compliance & Controls_
- Work closely with Risk and Regulatory Operations and Compliance teams as ‘first line of defence in ensuring that risk is managed through adequate and efficient controls.
- Drive improvement in operational controls through segregation of duties, multi-levels approvals, and RCSA reviews.
- Support all regulatory and scheme mandated audits and reviews
**Your Profile**
- Skills & Experience_
- An excellent people manager with min. 5 years of experience managing and developing operational teams
- Strong Payments or reconciliations background and a solid understanding of payments reconciliation and the payments infrastructure
- Knowedge of what it takes to run an operations team in a scale-up/fast-growing environment and how to deal well with ambiguity and change
- Proven track record of scaling and optimising processes through automation, and a good technical understanding and are able to work with Engineers and Product Managers to drive improvements
- You know what strong operational performance and KPI reporting looks like. This means you make data-driven decisions and understand the balance between business, system and operational requirements
- You understand what it takes to efficiently manage a “first line of defence” function from a regulatory and audit perspective, improving and implementing robust control frameworks.
- You have previously worked with external vendors such as banks and fintechs - domestically and internationally
- You are ok with supporting the team outside regular working hours and being on-call when required to make sure we always pay our merchants on time, every time.
