Peer Support Worker

**Job role**: Peer Mentor

**Hours per week**:20hrs (to include Monday AM, Wednesday PM & Friday AM, remaining hours negotiable)

**Where**:Local community centres/outreach/remote/office based (Laptop & phone provided)

**Salary**:£20-22,000 (pro rata)

**Contract**: Fixed-term (30mths)

**Reporting to**: CEO & Acting Manager Lindsay Oliver

**Requires**: Lived experience of Domestic Abuse, a driving licence & access to own vehicle

**Responsibilities**:
In this position you would be expected to;
- facilitate 2 group support sessions per week (Harrogate & Ripon), this will increase to 3 funding permitting.
- be responsible for portion of client case load offering ongoing support of individual clients (women and children) through 1:1 support, group support and signposting (face-face, message, phone call and video call).
- create suitable content and session plans to enable the facilitation of relevant support.
- assist with negotiating conflicts or disagreements that may arise within the client group.
- induct new members to New Beginnings and establish their tailored support package.
- support clients to be actively engaged in co-production to empower them to make positive change for themselves and fellow survivors.
- monitor and evaluate activities and write reports for line manager.
- maintain databases and undertake any other administrative duties.
- attend committees and meetings, both internal and external.

**Training & Support**:

- attend regular staff supervision with your line manager.
- attend monthly clinical supervision.
- follow the guidelines, policies and procedures of New Beginnings.
- be available and open to CPD opportunities and keep up to date with government initiatives & changes to domestic abuse related laws.
- attend and complete all internal training.

- group facilitation skills and experience.
- excellent communication skills, including networking and presentation skills.
- strong interpersonal skills, to deal with a diverse range of people.
- experience of managing or coordinating projects.
- empathy with New Beginnings service users and an understanding of their needs.

- good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and plan and prioritise your workload.

- administrative and IT skills (WhatsApp, G Suite, Microsoft Office, Canva, Zoom & Teams), and an ability to maintain records and produce clear written and oral reports.
- numerical skills in relation to petty cash budget/fundraising.
- ability to work across different sectors and develop links with other agencies.
- a flexible and non-judgemental approach to people and work.
- an understanding of the sector, commitment to the organisation and empathy with service users.
- driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
