This role will be primarily focused on supporting our Probation Service Regional Research Lead (RRL), with duties including the co-ordination/facilitation of research projects, identifying and developing research opportunities within the field of Probation, supporting the RRL within regional and national research and undertaking literature reviews/bespoke research projects.

**Overview of the job**
- The post is within the Research & Evaluation Team in the Planning and Analysis Group, Finance and Analysis Directorate. Reports to the Programme Manager within the Research & Evaluation Team.
- Regional post.
- No line management responsibilities.
- It is a non-operational post.

**Summary**
- maintain the NRC Access database;
- produce regular and ad-hoc management information reports and outputs (including NRC Summary Reports for the National Research Board and NRC consultees, and contributions to PQs and FOI/TO requests);
- manage queries relating to research procurement and research publications; and
- maintain a record of research reports and NOMS research publications, and manage NOMS contributions to the MoJ publications log and peer reviewer spreadsheet.

**Responsibilities, Activities and Duties**

The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:

- To maintain a record of NRC consultees, encompassing research leads, business leads and regional psychologists.
- To set up and coordinate NRC meetings, preparing the agendas, collating information, and preparing packs/papers.
- To draft and disseminate NRC decision letters to research applicants.
- To follow up on the NRC letters as necessary, confirming agreement to the modifications and changes requested by the committee.
- To maintain and update the NRC Access database.
- To produce regular and ad-hoc management information reports and outputs (including NRC Summary Reports for the National Research Board and NRC consultees).
- To contribute to PQs and FOI/TO requests on NOMS research processes and projects.
- To promote adherence to the Agency Research Applications Instruction (AI 02/2012, PSI 13/2012, PI07/2012) and maintain links with prison establishments, probation trusts and local/regional research contacts (including attendance at the National Probation Rese Meetings).
- To monitor the progress of research projects and log/disseminate final research reports and publications, feeding back comments when required. To manage NOMS contributions to the MoJ publications log and peer reviewer spreadsheet.
- To manage queries relating to research procurement and research publications.
- To maintain/update the Research P:Drive.
