We’re looking for a Defence Technical Account Lead to work for our client on a permanent basis. As part of our clients growth strategy, they are looking to build on an existing presence in the MoD and related organisations.

Based on excellent track record, and quality of technical delivery within their fast-paced agile technical teams, they set ambitious but achievable targets for significant growth.

This role will be focussed on the continued success of their Defence business stream and specifically creating a technical strategy focussed on the MOD and related partners, well as maintaining and developing relationships with key technical stakeholders within customers and suppliers. Through working closely with your counterparts within customers, we would expect you to grow the influence and generally broaden the footprint within

Defence.

Reporting into the Defence Stream Director, you will be responsible for understanding the customer’s mission and their technical challenges within the Defence customer base. You will also work closely with the rest of the

Defence Management Team to deliver on the strategy for the Defence business area specifically contributing to the technical direction. Working closely with the Technical Leadership Team, you will also use your knowledge and understanding of the technical challenges within Defence to support and deliver on the Technical Strategy.

**JOB SPECIFICATION**

Working with our client consists of a wide range of responsibilities, the list below gives a flavour of some of the tasks you may be asked to undertake;
- Creation of a Defence specific Technical Strategy (including developing capability portfolio) which forms part of the Defence Stream Strategy.
- Building senior stakeholder relationships - in MOD and selected partner organisations, acting as a strategic and trusted technical partner.
- Support the continued Account growth through overall technical leadership across all projects and ensuring high quality of delivery.
- Horizon scanning the MOD and UK defence future technology landscape and formulating training, research, and development strategies alongside the Technical Leadership team.
- Developing partnerships with external Defence Primes in line with account goals and managing these partnerships to the benefit of our client, the partner and customer.
- Working closely with the Stream Management Team to take an analytical approach with customers to determine the best technical solution to meet their objectives.
- Working closely with the Technical Leadership Team to develop propositions to take to market, in line with our offerings, that reflect a deep understanding of the domain and client needs.
- Full Software Lifecycle involvement: project concept formalisation; requirements analysis and specification; software architecture design; software implementation and delivery; software
- Liaising with the Defence Stream Management Team, including Account Managers, Delivery

Managers as well as the wider team members (of varying degrees of seniority and experience) to ensure solution delivery satisfies client expectation and need training and support and software lifecycle and maintenance.

**CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION**

Our clients Defence Technical Account Lead enjoy working on a variety of interesting and challenging projects, so they want their team to have a proactive and can-do attitude to their work. They pride on keeping up with emerging technologies and delivery best-practice so it is important that you enjoy learning and continuous improvement.

You will ideally have had exposure to;
Knowledge:

- Passion for emerging technologies (e.g. AI/ML, quantum computing) with an understanding of new trends/capabilities and delivery best-practice (e.g. Agile)
- Knowledge of the MOD or related departments (Defence Digital and StratComm customer landscape is advantageous).
- Working knowledge of a wide range of technologies, specialising in the use of opensource libraries and components.

**Experience**:

- Experience in a Senior Technical Leadership role, specifically working with the MOD
- Led the implementation of complex software solutions including architecture, design, development and testing.
- Highly competent in using tools such as GitLab which help monitor and ensure software quality and security.
- Experience in deploying complex software systems to a mixture of environments (ideally technical capability development).
