Ophthalmic Clinical Advisor

Clinical Advisors work closely with caseworkers reviewing evidence to provide clinical advice to non-clinical colleagues undertaking post payment verification on the provision of GOS services.
This role is to temporarily fulfil part time maternity cover till November 2025 and is for 1 day a week. You must be a current GOC Optometrist registrant or be eligible for the renewal of your registration.

The main duties of the role is to respond to the Post Payment Verification escalations from non-clinical Caseworkers in a timely manner. In addition, your role could also but not exclusively involve the following:
Supporting, mentoring, motivating and advising casework teams in non-line management relationships.
Reviewing disputed PPV claims from contractors
Working proactively across clinical and casework teams to deliver the services’ goals and objectives and review and monitor NHS BSA policy and information provision.
Delivering the goals and objectives of own team and others. At times this will include taking direction and priorities from non-clinical Leads and Managers.
Providing advice on all clinical matters to external clients and customers and to all sections of NHS BSA internally.
Providing consistent, up to date and informed clinical oversight and advice on the collection, storage, analysis and provision of clinical and related data and information internally and externally.

**Job purpose**:
Our Provider Assurance services collaborate with clinicians, health-care teams, commissioners and contract managers to assure quality outcomes and value for money across the NHS.
The Ophthalmic Clinical Advisor works with the Ophthalmic Senior Clinical Advisor (OSCA) and Provider Assurance Leads to ensure that our Casework teams are motivated and supported to deliver a consistent and accountable service for clients, customers and NHS Ophthalmic Contract Providers.
Working with and across a variety of teams and individuals, the Ophthalmic Clinical Advisor will ensure the provision of up to date, relevant and clinically assured advice, guidance and support to drive change and improvement in Ophthalmic Services as well as clinical advice in respect of operational issues, compliance with national policies, guidance and recognised good practice. In addition the post holder, with support from the Senior Clinical Advisor, will support the development and implementation of clinical products and services and provide clinical advice internally and externally.
By effectively collaborating with others the Ophthalmic Clinical Advisor supports our clinical and casework teams to meet existing and changing business requirements, by flexibly managing a number of priorities and work streams.
The work of the Provider Assurance teams is complex, sensitive and fast-paced and the Clinical Advisor is an important part of a busy team delivering a high-profile, evolving service that continuously adapts to fit our strategic and operational goals.
**In this role, you are accountable for**:
1. Liaising internally and with NHS England & NHS Improvement regional and local teams and others to identify, report on and promote assurance activities that deliver the services’ objectives.
