Wandsworth, United Kingdom Penguin Books Limited Full time

We are looking for an imaginative, culturally engaged, and entrepreneurial events producer to join the Penguin Brand team on a permanent basis. The chosen individual will have fantastic organisational and interpersonal skills, as well as having a proven track record of producing and programming creative live events.

The role sits in the Penguin Events team who work across all our publishing divisions and work with outstanding author talent such as Michelle Obama, Greta Thunberg, Paul McCartney, Malorie Blackman, Sue Barker, Bernardine Evaristo and Stormzy to name a few. Penguin events help readers to connect with their favourite authors through live experiences and are hosted in a wide variety of theatres and venues across the UK ranging from intimate 200-seat theatres to iconic cultural venues with capacities of over 2000.

If you love the idea of working on some of the most exciting events around and to help us reach new audiences, then please read on. Existing publishing industry experience is not a requirement.

**The Role**
- Bring the Penguin brand to life through live events in creative, compelling, and inspiring ways, and showcase our biggest authors raising awareness and attracting target audiences to our brand ecosystem.
- Lead on creative design and production for the live events programme, working in partnership with all of our publishing houses and audience teams, to orchestrate first class live events for Penguin Random House.
- You will take full responsibility for managing production and technical elements, talent liaison and event P&Ls across the events you produce.
- You will work closely with the Senior Creative Events Manager to help shape the Events strategy to build awareness of the Penguin brand and drive audience reach.

- Be the primary point of liaison with authors and talent either directly or via publicists/agents for brand-led events. Make first class author care a defining characteristic of a Penguin event.
- Work with the Digital Marketing teams to promote and also extend the reach and impact of live events via our owned channels, harnessing opportunities such as livestream or capturing digital legacy content to be used in content approaches to influence and engage our audiences online.
- Liaise directly with venues to make Front of House, production, marketing and tech arrangements for events, supporting the Senior Creative Events Manager who retains overall production management responsibility.
- Run regular retrospectives on events to understand what works and what doesn’t.
- Attend the vast majority of Penguin events. Regularly attend non-Penguin events, both in and outside London, to retain an expert view on the Live Events marketplace and build a strong network with the most successful events promoters, festivals, and agencies.
- Share regular insight into how other media and entertainment businesses are developing their live strategies and which events are creating the greatest audience passion and reach.
- Build strong working relationships with the marketing, publicity and editorial teams across the business and understand what matters to them and their business.
- Experience of programming and producing successful live events, ideally with a creative or cultural brand.
- Experience of working with a roster of production and events agencies and freelancers, with excellent contacts.
- An entrepreneurial self-starter who can work as part of a team.
- Abreast of cultural conversations and thrives on the opportunity to innovate.
