This is a Full Time Permanent Position

The AA Signs Bedford Depot is a busy centralised production and storage hubs providing temporary signage and traffic management for mainland UK. Our Depot Operative will be required to carry out a range of production related duties at the AA Signs Hub.

The core Bedford Production Hub duties will generally be Monday to Friday 0800 - 1600hrs during the winter months with an increase in hours during the busy summer months

**This is the job** The AA Signs Bedford Depot is a busy centralised production and storage hubs providing temporary signage and traffic management for mainland UK. Our Depot Operative will be required to carry out a range of production related duties at the AA Signs Hub.

The core Bedford Production Hub duties will generally be Monday to Friday 0800 - 1600hrs during the winter months with an increase in hours during the busy summer months

You may (from time to time) be required to perform similar support duties at other locations or to make deliveries connected with AA Signs business activity.

**What will I be doing?** You will be:

- Responsible for the prioritising, planning and production of signage, in accordance with signs schedules, procedural requirements and safe operating procedures in a self-sufficient manner
- Loading and unloading pallet cages, vehicles and storage racking using a forklift truck (FLT) on an irregular basis. (Full training will be given if necessary)
- Ensuring basic day to day operator maintenance for the depot fork lift truck is carried out and maintaining associated records (Full training will be given if necessary)
- Checking that all required materials are loaded to the exact requirement for each job and following their return to depot; checking the stock back in, as well as identifying any damaged materials that may require replacement
- Stripping and cleaning signs and equipment( e.g. cones and frames) that have been returned to the depot by cleaning off laminate material; using the prescribed method and disposing of the waste laminate as directed
- Carrying out stock takes as directed and checking and maintaining stock levels including: record keeping, repairing, and disposing of damaged signs and equipment
- Infrequently, you may be asked to produce additional wording and symbols by using a letter cutting machine to enable signs to be prepared for delivery to signs officers. (Full training will be given)
- Contributing fully at production hub planning meetings
- Driving an AA Signs van for delivery purposes
- Additionally, ensuring that the workshop environment remains clean and tidy and that any waste products are correctly disposed of in accordance with guidance.

**What do I need?** It is essential that you are/have
- Self-motivated, self-reliant and hard working
- Physically fit and capable of handling heavy loads on a day to day basis
- Good flexibility, problem solving skills and experience in the context of this role
- Able to be flexible around work hours (see additional information)
- Good time management and prioritisation skills
- Accurate and methodical
- Good verbal and written communication skills at all levels
- Basic PC Skills in word and excel spreadsheets
- Full driving licence

Desirable:

- An approved and experienced forklift truck driver who has experience of working with this type of machine in a warehouse environment

A significant degree of flexibility and understanding of the business working pattern requirement is needed to ensure that new employees are able to successfully adapt and fully integrate.

**Additional Information** You will be given the opportunity to attend a Unit 2, New Roads and Street Works Act (Signing, Lighting and Guarding) Course; enabling you from time to time provide ad hoc support to the signs team.

If required will be trained to operate the hub’s fork lift truck.

There may [very infrequently] be a requirement to work away from your home to support AA signs duties (e.g. yard’s persons duties or signs support). In that case accommodation and meals will be arranged and paid for by AA Signs.
