**About the role**

The Council has an ambitious and exciting programme focussed on Trees and Woodlands Management and the post holder(s) will have the opportunity to support in driving a programme of improvement in accordance with the delivery of Barnet’s Tree Policy (2017) and Sustainability Strategy (2021).

This will include a key role in supporting the Tree Officers, undertaking tree surveys to support service delivery and provide contractors with relevant works backed up with valid current data to allow cyclical tree maintenance programme to be implemented.

Educated with a good knowledge of tree species, fungi and their significance and tree biomechanics, the Assistant role will be in the front line in maintaining a healthy safe tree stock.

The Assistant Tree Officer will be instrumental in assisting in the continuous improvement of the Tree Section, ensuring these objectives are delivered and operational and financial targets of the service are achieved.

**About you**

You will be able to inspect trees and make accurate judgements based upon their health and condition and demonstrate an understanding of the role that trees and woodlands play in contributing to the green infrastructure and be innovative in your approach to enhancing those benefits.

You will be experienced of working in a customer-oriented environment at a technical level & dealing with the public on tree matters and experienced with Visual tree Assessment (VTA) assessment & methodology.
