The NPI Tooling Engineer's role is to be responsible for the injection mould tool, from design through manufacture and into production working in a successful team..
**Annual Salary**: £35,000 to £40,000
**Weekly Hours**: 8am to 4.30pm (can be flexible)
**Key areas of responsibility, duties**:
Reviewing part designs to highlight tooling and manufacturing issue
Support tool quoting from external suppliers
Liaison with all manufacturing departments and customers to ensure the tool design meets relevant criteria for full volume production
Review part inspection strategy with the customer and internal departments
Update tool timing plans to highlight any issues and propose recovery plans if required
Review part graining specifications and liaise with graining suppliers
Review initial inspection reports and decide on the scope of any corrective actions
Ensure revised part specifications are logged, reviewed and implemented and records updated accordingly
**General Responsibilities & duties**:

- Adhere to company NPI processes
- Meeting Health and Safety standards supporting others to do the same
- Must have a full UK driving licence (Occasional requirement to visit customer/supplier sites)

**Required education, skills, training and experience**:

- Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint and Word

**Skills required**:

- Read and interpret engineering component drawings
- Understand complex injection mould tool designs in 2D and 3D
- Liaise effectively with suppliers, colleagues and customers to communicate technical information
- Experience of injection mould tool making
- Interpret dimensional reports
- Ability to use 3D CAD software - Visi or Siemens NX preferable
- Experience of Moldflow or similar simulation software

**Experience Required**:

- Toolmaker experience
- Knowledge of the injection mould process and tooling
- Investigate tooling issues and determine the root cause and communicate the necessary corrective actions
- Carry out design for manufacture reviews of moulded parts
- Understanding of part gauges and holding fixtures for inspection
- Knowledge of plastic part textures and grains
