We are now seeking a Governance Officer to join our team at One Birdcage Walk, one of London’s most beautiful Victorian buildings and the home of IMechE.
**The Role**
As a Governance Officer, you will be tasked with supporting our governance committee and undertaking a range of corporate projects and programmes to enable our corporate governance function.
As part of a small team, you will provide support and assistance to Chairs and Members of the Nominations Committee and Strategy Committee, assist in the delivery of the annual corporate elections cycle and support the co-ordination and management of the programmeof work.
Additionally, you will handle and maintain confidential and sensitive data, managing the information and communication flows between governance committees and the wider organisation.
Your role will also involve:
- Supporting committees to develop effective working cultures and practices
- Organising virtual, hybrid and in-person meetings and producing accurate and timely minutes of meetings
- Co-ordinating and proactively managing committee / project actions to achieve deadlines and targets
- Supporting the annual corporate elections cycle and ongoing recruitment campaigns to fill positions on governance committees
**About You**
To be considered as a Governance Officer, you will need:
- Significant organisational skills and experience, with the proven ability to manage own and others’ workloads to tight deadlines despite conflicting and complex priorities
- A proven track record of minute-taking, producing accurate and timely minutes and supporting committees and/or project groups
- A proven track record of providing first-rate customer-focused service to internal and external stakeholders
- Experience of handling financial transactions and managing costs and budgets
- The ability to make rational, realistic decisions and form sound judgements
- Considerable stakeholder and relationship management experience, with sophisticated interpersonal skills
- A good standard of business communication skills, both written and verbal
- The ability to handle and protect the confidentiality of highly sensitive information
- A flexible approach to work
- A strong level of IT literacy, especially with Microsoft Office 365 with the ability to acquire, manipulate and disseminate data and information
