**Job summary**:
**An exciting opportunity has arisen for a caseworker in our Information Rights Team (IRT).**

This is a varied and busy role as we as an organisation are responsible for huge volumes of information and records, operating a public register of companies.

The IRT is responsible for ensuring that Companies House and the Registrar meet their legal obligations under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and associated legislation. This involves dealing with requests for information made by the general public and other public authorities under this legislation and policy issues relating to information rights.

**Job description**:
As an Information Rights Officer, your main duties will include:

- Handling requests made under the FOIA and the UK GDPR within a statutory time limit. This will involve logging and managing incoming requests and working with stakeholders across Companies House to establish if the necessary information is held.
- Considering the legislation to determine if an exemption applies to the disclosure of any information. Developing and drafting clear and concise responses to requests that are compliant with the legislation within the appropriate statutory time limit.
- Managing own caseload and ensuring that cases are appropriately progressed in order to respond within the statutory timescales.
- Seeking out opportunities to increase organisational awareness of Information Rights matters. Providing advice, guidance and support on FOIA and data protection issues to colleagues within Companies House.
- Inputting into cases escalated to the Information Commissioner’s Office and tribunal as appropriate.

**Person specification**:
It would also be desirable but not essential if you have previous case management experience and drafting skills.
