**Assistant General Operator**

**Location**: Malvern, Worcester

**Salary**: £25,000 per annum + benefits

Our client is an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) service provider who have been awarded a 5-year agreement to operate and maintain a new clinical waste incinerator facility, located near Hanley Swan, Malvern, Worcester. The Facility will process up to 16,000tonnes of clinical waste per annum whilst generating electricity for export.

**The Role**

The company are looking to appoint an Assistant General Operator to enact the safe and reliable operation of the new facility. The Assistant General Operator will be employed during the construction phase of the project to ensure plant and process knowledgeis established, necessary training is undertaken and to assist the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractors with the plant operation during the hot commissioning phase. They will report to the designated General Operator.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Unloading, loading and storage operations of fuel (medical waste and oil), process consumables and residues receptacles (such as bins, IBCs and waste vessels) to maintain safe, efficient and continuous plant operations.
- Undertake fuel weighing and barcode recording operations.
- Undertake bin washing operations.
- Support minor reactive maintenance and process stoppage situations (such as process blockages).
- Support plant inspections to ensure the required condition of the plant equipment at all times.
- Support permit management.
- Support fuel (medical waste and oil), process consumables and residues sampling activities.
- Enact and adhere to operational Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)s.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and orderly plant condition to the prescribed standard.
- To understand and comply with all Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Legislation.
- Provide shift cover for other operators in the event of sickness, holiday or training.
- To work as part of a 365 day, 24/7, shift-rota.

**Qualifications, Skills and Experience**
- Knowledge and experience as a junior or assistant plant operator - power, heat generation / incineration / medical waste would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Practical / hands-on plant process operational experience - in the shop-floor / factory environment.
- A strong appreciation of and regard for Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental matters is essential.
- A flexible working attitude and a strong team working approach are essential - you must be willing to maintain the process as the situation requires, in accordance with Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
- Good communication skills.
- Mobile plant operators’ certificates would be an advantage.
- WAMITAB, CoTC, etc. qualifications are advantageous but not essential.
- A Health and Safety qualification would be an advantage.
