This is a great opportunity for a legal library and information research professional, educated to degree level (or equivalent knowledge in the area) who ideally has several years' experience in working in providing research in a legal environment. As this a role that is embedded within the Finance, Employment, Pensions and Private Wealth teams, you can expand your knowledge and utilise your initiative to grow the role to suit your experience.
You must be keen to work in a professional and corporate law firm, with the confidence to deal directly with users and have solid communication skills.
The role is full time role - hybrid working - 3 days in the office.
Team Structure:
Our legal information services team (LIS) officers are embedded in our various practice areas. This role is embedded within the Finance, Employment, Pensions and Private Wealth teams. The LIS team aims to encourage collaboration and connect our people with useful legal, market and matter information by creating and promoting technology, tools and processes to support the firm to deliver continually improving profitable client service.
Main Responsibilities:
The purpose of the role is to provide legal information and research support services to the firm's fee-earner population. The information officer is one of a team of six information officers reporting to the information manager. The information officers meet regularly as a team, work on projects together and share other team-wide responsibilities.
Attributes/Skills Required:
- Providing in-depth business and legal research
- Working closely with the Legal Information Services Teams (LIS)
- Liaising with Knowledge Development Lawyers (KDLS) and supporting key initiatives
- Assessing information products and services, advising fee-earners on purchases and subscriptions.
- Developing and providing a wide-ranging training programme in supporting the fee earners
- Experienced in using Lexis Library, Westlaw & Practical Law and general online research databases is essential.
- Tracking legal developments, setting up current awareness
- Having professional and commercial awareness, using initiatives to promote the LIS team
- Ability to develop a good understanding of the work of the LIS team and to appreciate clients' research needs.
