Job Title: Pallet Operative
Job Purpose:
As a Pallet Operative, you will be responsible for performing a range of tasks related to the production, repair, and maintenance of pallets. Your primary goal will be to ensure that all pallets meet the required standards and specifications and are delivered to customers on time and in good condition.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Building, repairing, and maintaining pallets using hand and power tools.
- Sorting, stacking, and storing pallets in the designated areas of the workshop or pallet yard.
- Operating machinery and equipment, such as nail guns, saws, and forklifts, to assist in the production and movement of pallets.
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure that all pallets meet the required standards and specifications.
- Loading and unloading pallets onto delivery trucks or transport vehicles, ensuring that they are properly secured and arranged.
- Assisting in inventory management by counting and tracking pallets and ensuring that adequate supplies are available for production and delivery.
- Following health and safety regulations and company policies and procedures at all times.
- Communicating effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and customers to ensure that all tasks are completed to the required standards and on time.
Requirements of the job:
- Knowledge and experience in pallet production, repair, or maintenance gained with time would be looked on favourably but full training will be provided.
- Familiarity with hand and power tools, as well as machinery such as forklifts and saws.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality control.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting and moving heavy objects.
Working Conditions:
The Pallet Operative will work indoors in the workshop at times and also outside in the pallet yard. The role requires physical labour, including lifting and moving pallets.
operative may at times be required to work some weekends and evenings to accommodate customer needs. Overtime is offered at a rate of time + 1/2.
