Part Time Forklift Driver and Site Caretaker

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Job Title**: Part-Time Forklift Driver and Site Caretaker (immediate start, permanent)

**Location**: Quick Self Storage, Sovereign Enterprise Centre, Warrington Lane, Wigan, WN1 3AB

**Hours**: Part-Time, approx. 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday mornings - 9am to 12pm (required to be flexible with hours to meet the needs of the business)

**The role**:
We are seeking a motivated and customer-oriented individual to join our excellent growing team as a Forklift Driver and Site Caretaker. The main purpose of the role is to always keep our business premises looking clean and tidy.

It's crucial that you have the eagerness to be warm and welcoming when dealing with customers, making all customers feel looked after. Using your brilliant people skills, you'll determine what the customer’s situation is and provide relevant solutions and the support they need.

**Responsibilities**:
Duties will include but are not limited to:

- Essential you are qualified to operate Counterbalance (CB) forklift with safety and precision.
- Ability to support with a variety of site duties keeping your day dynamic and engaging.
- Play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of our site, helping to maintain our high standards of efficiency and safety.
- Capable of lifting upto 25kg when required.
- Proficient in receiving and unloading goods from incoming vehicles and stacking them to assigned places.
- Stacking and stowing pallets away.
- Adhering to Health & Safety at all times and promoting a safe working environment.
- Clearing work area of any debris and keeping the traffic routes clear of obstructions.
- Reporting faulty equipment, any damage, and other safety hazards to line manager.
- Show storage units to potential renters as required.
- Undertake regular security checks and audits at the store.
- Completing daily, weekly, monthly reports and audits.
- Be a local key holder for the site.
- Meeting external contractors as required.
- Provide outstanding customer service.
- Manage some basic on-site administrative duties if required.
- Light maintenance duties including weed control, grass cutting, painting and other maintenance tasks such as replacement of light tubes where required.
- Comprehensive cleaning duties, keeping the facility clean and tidy to the highest standards (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning, toilets etc).
- Maintain a safe working environment, in line with Health and Safety Regulations.
- Carry out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects when required.
- Co-operate with the rest of the employees.
- Make any adjustments and minor repairs.
- Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities.
- Other duties as assigned

**Essential Skill and Experience**:

- Valid Reach Forklift Truck Licence is a key requirement for the role.
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience as a Forklift driver.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in maintenance/site caretaker.
- Able to deal with members of the public in a non-discriminatory manner.
- Ability to use initiative and instinct when dealing with members of the public who may wish to potentially misuse the storage site facility.
- Must be ‘hands on’ with a ‘can do attitude’ as and when required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with customers.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills.
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work hours as needed to meet the needs of the business
- Reliability and punctuality are essential, being able to show an excellent timekeeping and attendance record

**You will need the following for the role**:

- Valid Counterbalance Forklift licence accredited
- Experience working on a counterbalance forklift
- Safety Boots & Hi Viz Vest
- Black workwear trousers

**Hours of work**:
The shift pattern will be Monday to Friday 9am to 12pm

However, you will need to be flexible to meet the needs of the business.

**The hourly rate for the role is**:
£13.50 per hour Monday to Friday (PAYE)
