Direct Payment Worker

Kingston upon Hull, United Kingdom East Riding of Yorkshire Council Full time

**The job itself**:
**4 hours per week in term time. 8 hours per week in school holidays.**

I am a 14-year-old boy who is looking for a support worker to help me access social activities and develop my confidence to become more independent.

**What do people like about me? What amazing things can I do?**

People always say how polite and helpful I am. I always try my best in everything that I do and like to learn new skills that will make me more confident for my future. I am a brilliant big brother and always look out for children that are younger than me, even if they can be a little annoying sometimes. I really like being a good role model both at home and school and this is something my mum and dad are really proud of.

**What do I like?**

My biggest passion is football. I play for a football team and play for the school’s new team. I am a big fan of Manchester City, but I promise to not hold it against you if you support Manchester United. I love Dr Who and have seen every episode. I enjoy drawing the Tardis and the different sonic screwdrivers.

On a weekend I like to help my dad with DIY around the house. I am very practical person who is great at building things. When I am older I would like to be a bricklayer.

**What do I dislike?**

The main thing that I find a little difficult is if things are changed within my routine. I like to know what is going to happen next, and like familiarity. I prefer to go to places that I have been before so that I can enjoy my surroundings. With support and repetition I can soon build my confidence and thrive.

**What do I enjoy doing?**

As above, I love football and like watching Man City on the TV.

After a trip to the Lake District with my family I learned that I enjoy paddleboarding and I look forward to doing this again in the future. I enjoy learning how to cook so that I can be independent in the future. This is something that I would love to do with my support worker.

**What do I need help with?**

Sometimes I need help to keep safe. I have a benign brain tumour that sometimes effects my senses. Although I like to think of it as a superpower, I am unable to feel pain.

Finally, I have siglings who I love but sometimes need a break from. I am hoping that with the help from my support worker I will be able to spend more time focusing on things that I want to do and what I want to learn.

The hours for this role are 4 hours per week during term time and 8 hours per week during school holidays. Days and times are to be arranged with the young person and his family. Term time hours will be arranged around school times and in the holidays there is room for plenty of flexibility.

An ideal worker will be reliable and passionate about supporting this young person to reach his goals. The ideal worker will have a good sense of humour and be able to talk to this young person about his interests.

A driver with access to a car is required for this role.
