- We have over 100 engineers and fleet support staff working directly on our passenger fleets, alongside experienced key relationship managers with a deep understanding of our customers' needs and expectations on their existing fleets, and investment in new rolling stockKey Responsibilities
**Role Purpose**
- Develop a consistent approach to component controls across the business
- To run standard reports and produce management information relating to project/modification and heavy maintenance planning activities via Porterbrook’s reporting system
- To ensure that component management is undertaken in a robust and professional manner**Responsibilities**
**Set Up and Maintain Maintenance Planning Data**
- In liaison with the Maintenance Services Planning and Configuration Manager and the respective Fleet Teams, ensure that all approved planned maintenance events on the Porterbrook Fleet are captured in Porterbrook’s asset management system
- Undertake regular maintenance planning data reconciliations to ensure the data integrity and address any non-reconciling items promptly ensuring the correct change control processes are applied
- Produce a quarterly mileage and meter reconciliation report
**Cross-Departmental Support, Fleet & Commercial**
- Provide information and support for mileage/counter reconciliations and last service information date reconciliations with customers as required
**Procurement**
- Provide assistance in the specifying of appropriate ‘resources’ for use in blanket purchase agreements
- Provide assistance in the specifying of appropriate new supplier and supplier/depot locations to Procurement
**Configuration Management**
- Undertake/facilitate the set up and maintenance of all new and changed assets (including their sub-assemblies/components) on Porterbrook and the industry's IT systems
**Components**
- Manage the static data for component reporting in Porterbrook and the industry's IT systems used by our component interface to ensure the correct allocation of components in the Company’s asset management system
**Modifications, Trials and Experiments**
- Undertake the creation of all ‘management of change’ approved project/modification work orders on Porterbrook's assets in a timely fashion, managing the input from IT and Procurement accordingly
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
**General Requirements**
General requirements are for an experienced railway person who has a comprehensive knowledge of rail industry leasing and maintenance requirements. The incumbent shall be experienced in dealing with Porterbrook’s engineering systems
**Qualifications**
- Degree, HNC/D or equivalent in relevant discipline
**Knowledge**
- Extensive knowledge of railway industry rolling stock and components, organisation and players
- Knowledge and understanding of vehicle maintenance and overhaul requirements, supplier management and the supply chain
- Familiarity with railway vehicle stock types, repair types and vehicle repairers
- Sound geographical knowledge
- Knowledge and understanding of Porterbrook’s engineering asset management systems beyond that of a normal user
- Knowledge of Railway legacy systems
- Ability to use railway database systems, such as R2, TOPS, GEMINI, TRUST, etc

- High level of computer literacy (especially Microsoft Office and database usage), with the ability to pick up new IT systems and ways of working quickly
