Midland Mencap is seeking to recruit flexible Job Coach's to provide support to people with a learning disability on employment programmes so that they can learn the skills needed to achieve and sustain paid employment. A key element of our employment services are work experience placements and on-the-job support in real work settings.
- Job Coach at 17 hours per week working Weds & Thurs 10.00 - 16.30 (6hrs x 2 days) and Friday 10.00 - 15.30 (5hrs)
- Job Coach at 16 hours per week working Weds 10.30 - 14.30 (4 hrs), Thurs 10.00 - 17.00 (6.5 hrs) and Friday 10.30 - 14.30 (4 hrs) plus 1.5 hrs flex
- Job Coach at 16.5 hours per week working Weds 09.30 - 16.30 (6.5 hrs), Thurs 10.00 - 16.00 (5.5 hrs) and Friday 11.00 - 15.30 (4.5 hrs)
The Job Coach will provide one to one support to individuals in the workplace ensuring that Individualised Learning Plan targets are achieved, work skills are developed and paid employment is sustained. They will work directly with individuals and provide tailored support that meets the varied needs of people we support. They will provide 1 to 1 support or group support in the workplace providing training, support and mentoring to individuals. The Job Coach will liaise with the employer to provide feedback and support. They will provide travel training support to enable individuals to independently access work opportunities and increase their levels of independence.

The Job Coach will work closely with the relevant Programme Coordinators and Caseworkers
- who will provide advice and guidance as to the support required for individuals gaining skills and experience in a real work setting. The Job Coach will be required to support the facilitation of workshops to groups and on a one to one basis.

The post holder will need to work closely with employers to ensure successful outcomes for the people supported. This role is largely externally focussed so will require a high level of professional conduct. Each individual and employer will be unique so the Job Coach will need to be highly flexible and adaptable.
Main duties and responsibilities
- To provide job coaching in the workplace that will enable an individual to attain the skills to enable them to gain or maintain employment as set out in their plan.
- To have the ability to problem solve in the workplace to ensure that skills are developed and barriers removed enabling paid employment outcomes to be met.
- To review progress and update the individual’s plan by providing advice, support and feedback to individuals, employers, parents and carers.
- To work effectively with others to support successful progression and achievement for individuals to gain paid employment.
- Deliver travel training sessions and one to one support to enable individuals to travel independently.
- Understands and adheres to safe working practices to promote personal safety and the safety of others and reports any issues or concerns through line management channels.
- Supports the completion of workplace assessments and carries out health and safety reviews and agreements with employers.
- Follows the instruction of the Caseworker to ensure that the support that is provided to the individual is accurate to that detailed in the plan.
- Develops sustainable relationships with local employers, families/carers and all other key stakeholders.
- Effectively collects stakeholder feedback and escalates relevant findings confidently.
- Actively partakes in reflection events feeding back outcomes to the Caseworker/Programme Coordinator as appropriate.
- Ensures that they work to the requirements of the delivery model, completing all required reporting and recording accurately and on time.
- Demonstrates an ability to record and report about a person with a learning disability in an accurate and respectful way, in line with organisational values.
- Use a range of systems and processes to record and evidence work carried out.
- Demonstrates a commitment to improving the team’s performance through constructive feedback and generation of ideas and solutions.
- Adheres to Midland Mencap’s policies and procedures
- Understands responsibility for Prevent, safeguarding and critical incident reporting in accordance with both internal and external procedures.
