The Community Perinatal Mental Health Service provides a Multi-disciplinary specialised care across the Black Country, to treat mothers with mental health problems, both during pregnancy and in the first year post-partum.

Black Country Partnership Foundation Trust have been commissioned to deliver the provisions across Walsall and Wolverhampton The expansion of this service has seen an increase from 1 teams to 2 teams and with it brings a number of exciting career opportunities.

**Main duties of the job**
- To be responsible for clinical triage of women who access the service during pregnancy and in the first year postnatal and decide on the most appropriate care required.

To be responsible for the assessment, planning implementation and evaluation of the evidence based care required, including health promotion for women and their infants.
Responsible for the appropriate clinical risk assessment of women, their infants and unborn children, providing an effective advice, guidance and decision-making process culminating in the coordination of any reviewed plan of care.

**Job Summary**

The post holder:
Will act as an independent practitioner within the community setting, while liaising with other professionals as necessary.

Will ensure that each assessment is conducted collaboratively in consultation with the woman and her partner/carer, where available, and the assessment will be informed by the wider MDT involved, including midwifery and health visiting.

Will take on the role of care coordinator and manage a defined caseload of women

Will provide supervision to others as appropriate and provide cross cover for colleagues as required.

Will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care within agreed parameters, and have a working knowledge of local, national policies and legislation, which govern current service provision and audit.

Will be responsible for ensuring effective communication pathways exist.

Will be responsible for ensuring the promotion of equality, diversity and rights in accordance with good practice and legislation.

**KNOWLEDGE**

**Essential criteria**
- Registered Mental Health Nurse _**or Equivalent professional qualification and valid registration**_
- Post registration experience in adult mental health.
- Understanding by the post holder of their responsibilities under the Mental Health Act 1983.
- Understanding by the post holder of their responsibilities under CPA, Clinical Governance, Risk Assessment and Child Protection Legislation
- Ability to provide skilled mental health assessment to adults
- Knowledge of relevant NICE guidance, including Antenatal and postnatal mental health: clinical management and service guidance (CG192)

Pay: £35,392.00-£42,618.00 per year
